Hermès Creative Director Critiques Grad Work
12/13/2011
As one of the oldest and most prestigious brands in French
fashion, Hermès continually looks to the traditions of craftsmanship
on which it was built, even as it eyes the future.
During a recent visit to his alma mater, Brown University
graduate Pierre-Alexis Dumas, now chief
creative officer at Hermès, participated in RISD graduate program crits in Glass and Furniture Design. The French design
connoisseur was clearly pleased to spot the same combination of talent that he
looks for as he tries to ease Hermès into the future without losing
sight of its past.
In this video, he talks to students D.H. McNabb MFA 12 GL, Ian
Stell MFA 12 FD and Mara Streberger
MFA 12 GL about their experimentation, craftsmanship and the love they so
clearly pour into their work.
