In the Spatial Dynamics studio, students
explore objects in space and time, and explore space and time in objects. In
doing so, they learn about the structure of form, the shaping of space and the
use of expression as a means to these ends. The studio involves a series of
assignments and critiques in which students are encouraged to think deductively
and intuitively, and to investigate the potential of a range of materials. Foundation
faculty members lead the critiques – offered both during the process and at the
end of each project – but critical dialogue between peers is also important in
helping to make the work reach its full potential.
