RETIRED RESOURCES SECTION - Graduate Student Alliance

A student organization with representatives from each advanced degree program, the Graduate Student Alliance (GSA) works to enhance the quality and focus of the educational and social experience of graduate students at RISD. The intent of both the Student Alliance, which is organized into undergraduate and graduate subsections, is to open lines of communication between students, faculty, staff and administrators in order to have meaningful dialogue and effect positive change. The Office of Student Life and the Dean of Graduate Studies work with the GSA to develop such programs as Open Studios, which enables graduate students to share ideas with grad students outside their studio major, and other cross-curricular interaction that strengthens the graduate student community. GSA representatives serve on the following committees:

  • Campus-wide standing committees
  • Admissions Committee
  • Alumni Council
  • Commencement Committee
  • Disciplinary Committee
  • Financial Aid Committee
  • Frazier Award [for Excellence in Teaching] Committee
  • Instruction Committee (academic policies, curriculum, Wintersession)
  • Library Committee
  • Board of Trustees committees
  • Academic Affairs Committee
  • Facilities Committee
  • Student Life Committee
