Biography
I was a double major as an undergraduate at the University of Maine at Orono, in Philosophy and in Mathematics. I received a PhD in Philosophy at Brown. Given my interests in the philosophy of mind and perception, I then decided to get a further training in empirical vision science, also at Brown. This led to a second PhD in Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences. After a period focusing mainly on research in empirical vision science, I have been returning to Philosophy as my main focus of activity (as always planned). I still keep a finger in empirical vision research, with (for example) an ongoing collaborative research project studying the perception of "structure from motion". But my main current focus is on doing empirically oriented philosophy of mind and perception.
