Graduate Information Programs

Prospective students are welcome to join us on campus to learn more about our graduate programs and two types of visit opportunities are available:

IN FOcus

Our IN FOcus events offer an overview of graduate education at RISD and an up-close look at specific programs of interest.

The Dean of Graduate Studies, faculty and currently enrolled students will offer a broad view of our graduate learning community. Staff from Student Financial Services and the Admissions Office will share insights on financing graduate study and applying for admission. You’ll tour the campus and spend time with faculty and students in your program of interest.

Two events are scheduled:

  • October 18, 2014 at 12:00pm
  • November 7, 2014 at 1:00pm

An added feature of IN FOcus on November 7 is the opportunity to enjoy Graduate Open Studios. In the evening, current students open their private RISD studio spaces to the community, providing an up-close connection to the diverse range of exploration underway.

You must reserve your place at either of these IN FOcus events using our online event calendar and registration site.

Information Programs

Presented by the Admissions Office, these programs provide introductions to our graduate programs, resources, community and application process. Each event also offers a guided tour of campus, with an emphasis on graduate facilities.

Visitors may choose from three program dates:

  • September 25th
  • October 9th
  • November 6th

Programs begin in the Admissions Office in the Woods-Gerry House at 62 Prospect Street. The presentation and tour typically take two hours or more.

You can reserve your place to join us at an information program using our online event calendar and registration site.

Graduate Portfolio Days

If you can’t visit us here in Providence, please plan to meet with RISD representatives at a National Portfolio Day session in your area. RISD will be attending these three events in the coming year.

Other options

The Admissions Office provides campus tours throughout the year. Although focused primarily on undergraduate students, graduate candidates are also welcome.

Graduate Studies does not provide unscheduled, individual tours. However, you may wish to contact a Graduate Program Director directly in your field of interest to arrange for a phone conversation or special appointment. Please keep in mind that such arrangements depend upon each director’s teaching schedule and availability.

Students often need to double up to transport large canvases, especially when it’s windy along the riverwalk in front
of the RISD Auditorium.
