Graduate Information Programs

A great way to learn about our 16 graduate programs is to visit RISD for one of three options open to prospective graduate applicants.

IN FOcus: Information Session for Prospective Graduate Students
The annual IN FOcus session takes place in November (with the 2014 date to be posted soon). Hosted by Graduate Studies, the event offers an overview of graduate education at RISD and an up-close look at specific programs of interest, followed by Graduate Open Studios in the evening.

Information Programs
Presented by the Admissions Office, these programs provide an introduction to our graduate programs, resources, community and application process. Each event also offers a student-guided tour of campus, with an emphasis on graduate facilities.

Programs begin in the Admissions Office on the second floor of Woods-Gerry House at 62 Prospect Street. The presentation and tour typically take two hours or more.

Upcoming program dates will be announced soon. In the meantime, feel free to contact Admissions at 401 454-6300 or admissions@risd.edu with any questions.

Graduate Portfolio Days
If you can’t visit us here in Providence, please plan to meet with RISD representatives at a National Portfolio Day session in your area. RISD will be attending these three events in the coming year.

Other options

The Admissions Office provides campus tours throughout the year. Although focused primarily on undergraduate students, graduate candidates are also welcome.

Graduate Studies does not provide unscheduled, individual tours. However, you may wish to contact a Graduate Program Director directly in your field of interest to arrange for a phone conversation or special appointment. Please keep in mind that such arrangements depend upon each director’s teaching schedule and availability.
