Portfolio Days

RISD participates in a number of portfolio day events sponsored by the National Portfolio Day Association.

At these events prospective students have the opportunity to present their portfolios to representatives from art and design colleges and university art departments. In one day, aspiring artists gather a wide range of opinions and advice about their portfolios, which may help them strengthen their work and prepare their college applications.

RISD representatives will be available to meet with you to critique your work and provide information about the school. Please note, however, that RISD does not make admissions decisions at portfolio days, nor do we require you to attend one of these events or meet with anyone from the Admissions Office as part of the application process. Meeting with us at one of these events does not eliminate the need to submit your portfolio as part of our application requirements.

Crowds are often large at portfolio days. We encourage you to come to the RISD table early to increase the likelihood that we will be able to speak with you before the end of the day. RISD representatives meet with as many visitors as the schedule of each event permits and while the 2014/15 schedule has not been set yet, in 2013/14 RISD reps attended portfolio days in the following cities at the host schools listed:

Dating from 1773, Market Square was once the hub of downtown Providence and is now a popular campus plaza for
displaying sculpture and other unexpected objects.
