Biography
Jeung-Hwa Park is a full-time studio textile artist who attends highly recognized fine craft shows as well as museum and gallery exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
She attended Kyung Hee University (B.S. Clothing and Textiles, 1983) and Ewha Womans University (M.A. Fashion Design 1988), both in Seoul, Korea, and Rhode Island School of Design (M.F.A. Textiles 2000) in Providence, RI.
Jeung-Hwa studied fashion design and worked in Kolon Sportswear Company in Korea as a designer. During her early days in America she took photographs of current trends in New York and Boston to send to Korean fashion magazines and fashion trend forecast companies as a fashion reporter. Her return to school as a textile major at RISD was an effort to combine apparel with textiles—to integrate fashion with the fabric that is its basis.
Evidence of her success has been numerous awards and the purchases of her work for significant permanent collections, including those of the Museum of Arts and Design (New York), the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), Fidelity Investments (Rhode Island), and Kwangju International Biennale (Korea).
