Kathleen McDermott is a fashion historian. She is the author and illustrator of a new
history of fashion called Style for All:
Why Fashion, Invented by Kings, Now Belongs to All of Us. Kathleen is also a hat artist and her
creations are seen at galas and parties around Boston.
Academic Research/Areas of Interest
Her current research and artwork concerns the great opera
divas from the 17th to 20th centuries -- women simultaneously worshipped and reviled -- for their extraordinary
talent but lower class origins.
