Faculty: Nicholas Brinen

Biography

Architecture Critic Nicholas Brinen founded Lightshed, a studio based in Brooklyn, NY, to advocate intelligent design strategies for projects that possess unique constraints of space, time and resources. He received his MArch from the University of Texas at Austin, where he specialized in sustainable architecture, and his BFA in Architecture from the University of Florida. Before starting Lightshed, Brinen worked on multiple projects with Sasaki Associates in Boston, Tom Hurt Architects in Austin and Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects in New York City. In addition to practicing, he has taught design at The New York Institute of Technology, The University of Texas at Austin and Parsons New School for Design.
