Biography
Rachel Berwick’s work has been shown internationally, including exhibitions at venues such as the Serpentine Gallery, London, the 26th Bienal de Sao Paolo, Brazil in 2004; The 7th International Istanbul Bienal, in 2001; and the Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. In the United States she has exhibited at Mass MoCA; Real Art Ways, Hartford, CT; CCAC Wattis institute for Contemporary Arts; The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT, and Sikkema Jenkins & Co., New York, among others.
She is, in addition, the recipient of numerous grants, including fellowships from the Anonymous Was a Woman Foundation and the Ingram Merrill Foundation, and a Smithsonian Artists’ Research Fellowship.
Berwick received her MFA from Yale University School of Art and BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She was a member of the faculty in The Yale School of Art Sculpture Department from 1991- 1999 and has taught at RISD since 1999 where she is presently Head of the Glass Department.
She is represented by Sikkema Jenkins & Co, New York.
