Biography
Alan Rapp is an editor, writer, and visual book developer. A former senior editor at Chronicle Books,
San Francisco, he acquired and developed dozens of titles in the art,
architecture, design, and photography lists.
After fulfilling an M.F.A in Design Criticism at School of Visual Arts,
Alan was managing editor of the temporary publication the New City
Reader, whose office operated from the gallery floor of the New Museum in
Fall 2010, and was US editor of DomusWeb International in 2011. He has
taught at Parsons the New School of Design and leads a graduate-level
course in Design Writing at Pratt Institute.
His writing on architecture, photography, and design has appeared in numerous print and web publications, including the New City Reader, Dwell, Design Observer, Urban Omnibus and numerous other publications.
