Faculty: Tracy Lynn Steepy

Biography

Tracy Steepy is an artist whose work focuses on the format and subject matter of jewelry. She received her BFA from Indiana University and her MFA from the SUNY/New Paltz Metals Program in 2000. She lectures and exhibits both nationally and internationally. Steepy has participated in several artist in residence programs: MADE BY studio in Stockholm, Sweden (supported by IASPIS), Rejmyre Art LAB residency in Sweden, and the Francoise van den Bosch Artist in Residence in Amsterdam. Her most recent work was exhibited in the Seams: Seems Collaborative Exhibition at the MADA Monash Gallery in Melbourne, Australia. Steepy’s work is represented exclusively at the Sienna Gallery in Lenox, MA, which featured the prior exhibitions Where the Line Leads and Ply Portraits. Before joining the faculty at RISD, she taught for three years at the University of Oregon. She is currently an Associate Professor and the Graduate Director of the Jewelry + Metalsmithing program at RISD, where she has taught for the past ten years.
