Biography
Karen L. Nelson has been teaching Theory at the Rhode Island
School of Design in the Department of Landscape Architecture since 1999 and has
been teaching design studios and seminars at the Boston Architectural College
since 1994. Ms. Nelson is the
BAC’s Acting Head of the School of Architecture. Ms. Nelson received her
B.S.A.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1988 and her Master
of Architecture from Columbia University in 1994. Ms. Nelson brings to her teaching a passion for language,
for landscapes, for rituals and for architecture based on sound and haptic
conditions. Her practice is
collaborative and symbolic; she is currently working on collaborative projects
that include a teahouse and a children’s book.
