Early Intervention and Support for Students of Concern

The Concern Assessment Response Evaluation (CARE) team, formerly the Students of Concern program, is comprised of staff focusing on early intervention and support for students of concern. The CARE team program is operated through Student Affairs and our mission is to serve as a campus resource team dedicated to assisting students who may be in distress or who may be experiencing challenging or difficult life circumstances.

Campus-wide Emergencies
In the event of a campus-wide emergency, a RISD!Alert emergency notification would be sent out to all who are registered to receive it. Updates would be posted to the RISD Emergency Site. In an extreme emergency, www.risd.edu will redirect to the RISD Emergency Site.

Snow and Weather Closings
In the event of inclement weather or storm-related closings/delays, an initial announcement would be posted on the homepage of this website and recorded on the College’s main phone line at 401 454-6100. Student Right to Know and the Campus Security Act of 1990
In accordance with federal law (Student Right to Know and the Campus Security Act of 1990) colleges are required to report “statistics concerning the occurrence of specific criminal offenses reported to the local agency” or any official of the college who has “significant responsibility for student and campus activity.”

A "Campus Security Report" with all related information is published by the RISD Office of Public Safety by October 1, as required by law, and is available to students, staff and prospective students. The report can be found on the main RISD Public Safety page.
