Free RIPTA
RISD students, faculty, and staff ride RIPTA (Rhode Island Public
Transportation Authority) buses for free with their RISD ID. Simply swipe your
RISD ID through the farebox and go. For RIPTA maps and schedules please visit www.ripta.com or call 401-781-9400.
Free RIPTA service is good on all
RIPTA regular service buses and the Providence and Newport trolleys; however,
it is not valid on special summer “Beach Bus” service.
RISD Rides
RISD provides a late-night shuttle service
called RISD Rides. RISD Rides operates on two fixed routes covering the campus
area and nearby areas of Downcity and the East Side in the evening until
midnight. After midnight RISD Rides provides a service called To-Your-Door
which transports students from designated campus buildings to their homes
within the designated service area.
RISD Rides vans are distinctively
marked with the RISD Rides logo. To utilize RISD Rides, wait at the designated
stops and show your RISD ID to the driver when boarding. More detailed
information including maps, times of service, and rules and regulations can be
found on the Transportation page on the RISD intranet.
