Orientation

First Year At RISD

Orientation at RISD is an important and exciting time for all new and transfer students. It marks a student’s introduction to the RISD community, offering a period of several days before the start of classes in which to meet other students, learn the lay of the land around campus and the surrounding neighborhoods, and get settled in RISD housing.

New students find Orientation programs to be very helpful and a lot of fun, making the transition to life at RISD a welcoming and enjoyable time. Students should plan to be at RISD for the entire four days of Orientation (International students have an additional two and a half days for undergraduates and one day for graduate students prior to joining regular Orientation).
