Introduction to RISD

All new and transfer students are required to participate in Orientation, which takes place from September 4–7, 2016 (and from September 1–3, 2016 for international students). Orientation offers an introduction to the RISD community before the start of classes on September 8, allowing students to meet each other, learn the lay of the land around campus and get settled in RISD housing.

Orientation programs are designed to be fun and helpful, with the goal of making the transition to life at RISD relatively seamless. All students are also encouraged to participate in an optional Pre-Orientation Service Experience (P.O.S.E.) from August 30–September 3, 2016. The 2016 RISD Orientation website provides more information on getting started and becoming part of the campus community.Watch for more information about this in the summer.
