artist’s statement
I see jewelry as a series of conversations. There is the dialogue between my original idea and the materials I choose that allows form to evolve and grow. I often explore new materials and techniques in the design stage. Each technique is its own language, and when spoken fluently it allows the idea to be expressed clearly. An exploration of new fabrication methods often goes hand-in-hand with using unfamiliar materials, providing me with an opportunity to enrich my vocabulary. Finally, I believe a piece of jewelry is not complete until it has an owner. When I have done my part well, the abstraction, serenity and elegance of the work will allow room for new interpretation by others and continue to generate new conversations.
