Lindsay Caplan

Lindsay Caplan is an art historian focused on the intersections of art and technology. Her work explores the ways that artists have drawn on computers and cybernetics to envision new models for social engagement and communal life. She holds a PhD in Art History from The CUNY Graduate Center, where she completed a dissertation about artists and designers working with early computers in 1960s Italy. She has been awarded fellowships from The CUNY Graduate Center’s Center for the Humanities (2010–14) and the American Council for Learned Societies (2015–16), and she was a critical studies fellow in the Whitney Independent Study Program (2011–12). Her writing has appeared in exhibition catalogues and journals including The Scholar & Feminist Online and e-flux journal.
