Joshua Enck creates sculptures that capture the tension between the spontaneity of the artistic process and the restraint of meticulous craftsmanship. His pieces are often asymmetrical, quirky and animated, and they celebrate the perfection of the imperfect. Enck’s work was recently on view in a solo exhibition at the Simon Gallery in Morristown, NJ and has also been shown widely in galleries and museums across the US.
Enck earned his MFA in Furniture Design at RISD and his BSAS from the University of Illinois’ School of Architecture. In addition to teaching at RISD, he has served as visiting critic for a wide range of institutions and on the faculty at Williams College in Massachusetts and the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado. His work has earned him a number of fellowships and awards, including a New England Arts Award and several grants from the RI State Council on the Arts.
