Ricardo Vestuti

Ricardo Vestuti is an American-Venezuelan designer who has managed to combine an interest in sports and art into a career in footwear and product design. His fine arts background has allowed him to approach problem solving, in this discipline, with a unique perspective.

Ricardo’s work experience in an advanced concepts setting allowed him to explore and apply new technologies, materials and processes to athletic products. He has spent time designing at Saucony, Nike, Reebok/Adidas and Hasbro in different capacities. Lectures and sponsored studios have taken him to Sweden, England and a variety of art schools in the US, where he has introduced design students to the evolving world of footwear design.

Ricardo has generated a long list of patents related to athletic equipment and has had work shown in the LaGrange Art Museum and Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design Bordeaux.

SECTION DESCRIPTION

This course is an introduction to conceptual and manual skills that represent necessary steps in design evolution. Students strengthen skills by completion of several processes and exercises. Critical thinking and concept generation is a primary focus, drawing and model making activities help to establish this process. Throughout the course each student will focus on improving communication skills and the ability to project or sell ideas.
