Angela Dufresne

Prolific Brooklyn-based painter Angela Dufresne earned her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and her MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. She began painting as a budding feminist growing up in the suburbs of Kansas City, where she decided early on that the prescribed life of the housewife was not for her. Dufresne began teaching at RISD in 2004 and has also lectured at Princeton University, Sarah Lawrence College and Yale University, among other institutions. Her work has been shown across the US and in Europe, and she had her first solo museum exhibition at UCLA’s Hammer Museum in 2006. Recent solo exhibitions include Parlors and Pastorals at the Monya Rowe Gallery and CRG Gallery in New York City and Cinema Covers at Common Street Arts in Waterbury, ME. In 2013 she completed an artist residency at Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, NY.
