CHANGE IN RISD ALUMNI ASSOCIATION LEADERSHIP
The officers of the Alumni Association have appointed Joan Herron ’64 GD/MFA ’98, the standing second vice president of the Association, to complete the balance of the term begun by Amy Calkins ’81 PH, who resigned as president of the Association on August 1, 2007. Herron will serve as president until June 2009, and as such is now an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees. A longtime volunteer for RISD and mother of alumnus Jason Herron ’02 GD, she previously served as a trustee from 1997-2003, after being elected to the Board by the full alumni body.

Calkins has been an active volunteer for RISD since 1994 and had been an officer of the Alumni Association for the past five years. Fellow alumni volunteers and RISD staff members are very grateful for her many years of service to the college and look forward to her continued involvement. With this change in the Association leadership, Nat Hesse ’76 SC has agreed to fill Joan’s previous position as second vice president, while Robyn Ericsson BArch ’87 is continuing as first vice president and Mike Martella BArch ’91 continues to serve as committee coordinator.
