Internships at RISD often take place during Wintersession (a six-week period beginning in January) and the summer, although students also do internships during fall and spring semesters. The majority of internships are paid or include compensation. Some also carry academic credit, and for this, students must secure approval of their department head. You can submit items of interest to the RISD community, including calls for entry, residencies, scholarships, fellowships, studio spaces, or other opportunities for artists. We do list selected competitions, but please refer to our posted policy on Competitions. To add a listing, click on the link and follow the instructions for posting. Recruitment
Employers interested in recruiting are encouraged to attend our spring semester portfolio reviews. Discipline-specific reviews are conducted in March and April and draw a minimum of 50 student participants per review session. The goals of the reviews are to provide companies with opportunities to view the creative work of RISD students and for students to receive constructive feedback about their portfolios as they make networking and job-searching contacts. Individual student reviews last between 10 and 15 minutes per student and a more formal interview may be arranged between student and reviewer at a later date.
