Leonore Alaniz: AA, Commercial Art, Chabot College. Alaniz owns and runs Leonore Alaniz Textile Atelier, producing contemporary textiles for apparel and interior decor. She has taught at the Institute of Design and Merchandising (San Francisco) and FIT, and has lead nature printing workshops throughout the US, including Wave Hill (Bronx, NY) and the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (Sarasota, FL). She has won awards for her work including from the Design Center in Stuttgart, Germany and the Fashion Foundation in Tokyo.
Debora Aldo: BA, Art, Swain School of Design; BSLA, Landscape Architecture / Horticulture, UCONN. Aldo is the principal designer of Pietre Dure Design and designs, fabricates and installs interior and exterior mosaics. She has studied with mosaic masters Maggie Howarth, Sherri Warner Hunter and Lynn Moor and has worked with masons and wall tilers on her commission work. She teaches and exhibits her mosaic work throughout the US.
Harley Bartlett: BA, Fine Arts, University of Pennsylvania. Bartlett's company, Bartlett Fine Art Ltd., has created murals and decorative finishes for numerous corporate and restaurant clients, as well as completed restoration work for churches and temples. The company's work has been featured in Traditional Home, New York Magazine and Interior Design, and Bartlett's personal artwork is represented in galleries throughout New England. He is also a member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston.
Maryjane Begin: She has illustrated several children's books, including A Mouse Told His Mother, The Wind in the Willows and The Porcupine Mouse, among others. Her work has been exhibited throughout the US, and has also been published. She is the recipient of many awards, and has also produced imagery for such clients as Hasbro, Milton Bradley, Celestial Seasonings and Disney. She currently teaches Illustration in the RISD BFA program.
Kathleen Scully Berenback: Advanced Herbal Training Program and Apprenticeship, Sage Mountain Herbal Retreat Center, East Barre, VT; Certificate in Therapeutic Aromatherapy, Eclectic Institute of Aromatherapy. Berenback is a practicing herbalist in Providence, and she recently completed coursework in vibrational aromatherapy and reflexology in France.
Ellen Blomgren: A ceramic artist specializing in surrealistic sculpture, Blomgren owns Mudstone Studios in Warren. An Artist Educator for RISCA, her public installations include Rhode Island Hospital, Woodlawn Community Center in Pawtucket and more than a dozen schools throughout Rhode Island. Recent exhibitions include Deblois Gallery in Newport and Imago Gallery in Warren.
Ariel Bordeaux: BFA, School of the Museum of Fine Arts / Tufts, Boston. Bordeaux has been creating comic books and zines since 1993. Her work has been published by Drawn & Quarterly, Fantagraphics, Viking Books for Young Readers and Yale Press. Currently she is developing Hen Party, an autobiographical comic strip.
Douglas S. Borkman: BFA, Ceramics, UMass/Dartmouth; MFA, Sculpture, RISD. Borkman teaches Wood and Metal Shop practice in the RISD BFA and MFA Sculpture programs and has previously taught at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. He has worked on many design projects including the Providence Children's Museum and Buddha Bar in NYC, and he has been a consultant for a number of large-scale projects including a public sculpture for the artist Martin Puryear.
Robin Brandes: BBA, UMass. Brandes spent the early part of her career in marketing before becoming a Certified Health Counselor. She is accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP), and received her education from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is affiliated with Columbia University. Her company, Robin Health Coach, takes a bio-individual approach to the design of its health programs.
Robert Cagnetta: BS, Historic Preservation, Roger Williams University. Cagnetta helped found the Institute for Preservation Training, a nonprofit historic preservation/vocational training program. In 2001, he started up Heritage Restoration, Inc., a restoration contracting company, as well as the nonprofit Preservation Training and Education Institute, which provides training and educational opportunities through apprenticeships and internships. He continues to lecture those pursuing careers in historic preservation.
Corinne Cain: BFA, Painting and Drawing, combined MFA/MBA, Arts Administration/Finance, Southern Methodist University. Cain is both a collector and appraiser of fine Native American art. A Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers, she is also board member of the International Board of Examiners of the American Society of Appraisers, and serves as a consultant and expert witness for corporations and individuals.
Bruce Campbell: MS, Human-Computing Interface Science, University of Washington-Seattle; MS, Computer Science, RPI; MS, Information Science, University of Wisconsin-Madison. A virtual community specialist who extends organizations through Web architecture, Campbell spent ten years working at the cross-disciplinary Human Interface Technology Laboratory. He currently develops innovative computer-mediated communications through Web strategies at The Ocean Project in Providence.
Barbara Capalbo: BA, Western Maryland College. Capalbo studied lighting at NYU and at Lester Polokov's Studio and Forum of Stage Design. A designer, lecturer and consultant, she has designed theatrical lighting for more than 28 years and architectural lighting for more than 12 years. She is a Lighting Design member of United Scenic Artists.
Melissa Cardillo: BS, Elementary Education, URI; MAT, Art Education, Rhode Island College. Cardillo is presently teaching visual arts for Central Falls Schools and has previously been an art educator in the Westerly and North Providence Public School systems. She also has experience with printmaking, jewelry design, painting and art history.
Rob Colclaser: BS and MS, Electrical Engineering, University of Pittsburgh; Certificate, Digital Photography, RISD|CE. Colclaser is the owner of Rob Colclaser Photography, a freelance photography studio specializing in corporate, product and event photography. His digital fine art photographs have been exhibited in solo and group shows in the New England area, and he has been a RISD|CE guest lecturer on professional large format inkjet printing.
Allison Cole: BFA, Printmaking, RISD. Cole is a self-employed freelance illustrator represented internationally by Lilla Rogers Studio. She includes Hasbro, Target and Houghton Mifflin among her extensive client list. Never Ending Summer, a full-length graphic novel she wrote and illustrated, was published in 2004. She is also the Art Director for Providence Media, publishers of Providence Monthly and SO Rhode Island.
Andy Cutler: BA, George Washington University. Cutler has 20 years of experience in strategic communications. In 2003 he founded Cutler & Company, with clients including the Business Innovation Factory, City of Providence, JTJ Investments, Rhode Island's Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC) and Slater Technology Fund. Previously, he served in senior positions with Edelman, a global public relations firm, Feinstein Kean Healthcare (a division of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide), Boston's Faulkner and Harvard Community Health Plan.
Jennaca Davies: BS, Building Sciences and BArch, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; MFA, Jewelry and Metalsmithing, RISD; International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg, Austria. An architectural designer and jeweler, Davies recently completed a four-month residency at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. Her work has been exhibited in shows both nationally and internationally, including the Talente exhibition in Munich, Germany, the Gallery of Art in Legnica, Poland and Galerie V&V in Vienna, Austria.
Bryson Dean: BA, Studio Art, Kenyon College; MFA, Fine Arts, The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Dean has been a graphic designer since the mid-1980s in the fields of corporate communications, multimedia, television and education. Her current work involves teaching, graphic design and personal creative work that springs from the intersections of fine art, design and technology.
Dennis DelSignore: DelSignore has been in the floral design business since 1989. He once owned a successful retail floral design studio, and now specializes in interior design. Alongside renowned designers Preston Bailey and Daniel Ost, Dennis brings more than twenty years experience applying his skills to installations domestically and abroad; from Paris to Venice, Switzerland to South Africa.
Jenn Dlugos is an award-winning screenwriter affiliated with the Francis Ford Coppola American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest, the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Kids First! Film Festival, Twin Rivers Media Festival, the Feel Good Film Festival and the Vine Entertainment Festival. She is currently a judge for the Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) Screenwriting Competition and coordinates ScriptBiz, RIIFF's two-day screenwriting conference.
Victoria Dryden: BFA, Interior Architecture, RISD; ASID. An interior architect and furniture designer, Dryden leads Dryden Design, LLC, a residential/commercial design firm and workroom. She has experience in furniture design, product design and set design, and was featured on The Learning Channel's Trading Spaces.
Lindsay Elgin: BA, Fine Arts, Amherst College; Studies in Photography, Glasgow School of Art; Certificate in Collegiate Teaching, Sheridan Center at Brown University; MFA, Photography, RISD. Elgin is a digital photographer for Brown University Library's Center for Digital Initiatives, and her work has been exhibited in Amherst, Providence, Tucson, Glasgow and Edinburgh. She is Advisor for the Digital Photography Certificate Program and is a 2008-2009 RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.
Eric Emerson: BA, RIC. Formerly a production assistant for Eagle Beach Productions of Providence and WHJY and WHJJ radio stations in East Providence, Emerson began his career as a web architect at the Providence professional services firm ExNihilo. He is currently the owner of his own web development company, Emerson Creative, and has been teaching at RISD|CE since 2000.
Anne Emlein: MFA, Textiles, RISD; BFA, Textiles, California College of Arts and Crafts. Emlein teaches machine knitting, textiles for apparel, and fine arts textile courses in the Textile Department at RISD. She has exhibited her knitwear, apparel and fine arts work throughout the country.
Christine Enos: BFA, Furniture Design, SUNY/Purchase; MFA, Furniture Design, San Diego State University. Enos has taught furniture design at RISD, Herron School of Art, Oregon College of Art and Craft, and San Diego State University. Her work has been exhibited widely, including most recently at the Fuller Craft Museum.
Chris Eramo: Former General Manager of the Susan Sargent Designs flagship store on Newbury Street in Boston, Eramo worked with clients on design projects and was the imaginative force behind the visual design of this flagship location. He has consulted with various retailers on the interior setup of retail stores throughout the country. Eramo's staging success can also be attributed to 20 years of experience buying, staging and selling homes in the Boston market.
Rhonda Fargnoli studied Fashion Design and Textiles at Chamberlain School of Design, and taught art and studio art in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for 15 years. Her knitwear pattern designs include: Blue Sky Alpaca Yarn, which premiered in the first issue of Vogue Knitting's Knit Simple; and designs for Sheep Shop Yarn Co. Her new line of baby sweaters can be purchased under the COZY designs label.
Beverly Ferguson: Degree in Applied Science of Interior Design, Chamberlayne College. Ferguson is a principal/designer for Exciting Windows! by The Reflective Designer. Both a practicing interior designer and fine artist, her work has been published by the Polaroid Corporation. She is a member of the Copley Society of Art, an allied member of ASID, and has taught for RISD, The Fuller Museum and Cennini Studios.
David Fleurant: Advanced Photography, Rhode Island School of Photography. A photographer with more than 30 years of experience, Fleurant is owner of Light Impressions Photography & Design, a studio specializing in product and corporate stock photography. He is also a career and technical advisor for Attleboro High School. His work has been exhibited in the US and Great Britain, including his solo show Into the Light, Faces of Peru.
Deborah Forman: BFA, Film/Animation/Video, RISD; MED, Massachusetts College of Art; MFA, Painting, Parsons School of Design. Forman has taught at RISD, Massachusetts College of Art, Parsons School of Design and Wheaton College. An accomplished painter, she has exhibited her work at galleries throughout New England. She is an assistant professor of art at Wheaton College.
Susan Fossati: BA, Marymount College; MFA, Rosary Graduate School of Fine Arts, Florence, Italy. In addition to teaching for RISD|CE and the RISD Pre-College Program, she also teaches at CCRI. The Bellini Ruggeri Gallery in Providence currently represents her.
Keith Fox: BFA and MFA, Painting and Printmaking, University of Wisconsin/Madison. Fox has taught painting and drawing at UConn/Storrs, CCRI and the University of Iowa/Iowa City. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the Museum of Work, Portugal, Columbia University and the Getty Museum. He was most recently a guest artist and speaker at AS220 in Providence. He is the author of art books for youth and co-author of The Phantasmagoria of a Shopper.
Julie Gearan: BFA, Painting, Tyler School of Art; MFA, Painting, Indiana University. Gearan has been the recipient of grants to study at Yale University in the summer and from Indiana University for travel to Italy. She has taught at the Illinois Institute of Art and at Indiana University, and her work has been exhibited locally and nationally.
Matt Grigsby: BFA, Industrial Design, RISD. Grigsby is CEO and co-founder of Ecolect, a web-based company that provides information and news about sustainable materials for design related fields from architecture to product design. He runs the sustainable transportation blog, Alternative Transit, is chair of the Rhode Island chapter of Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), and co-chair of IDSA's Eco Design Section.
Roland Gutierrez: BA, English, URI. Gutierrez has 18 years of experience working as a professional photographer. He owns Shane Photography, a commercial studio specializing in architectural, portrait and product photography. His work has been published in The Photo Review and Yankee Magazine, among other publications.
Louise T. Hall: BA, Maryville University; MED, Suffolk University; Graduate Studies, Northeastern University. Hall is an accredited senior appraiser of antiques and decorative arts with the American Society of Appraisers and is president of L.T. Hall Appraisals, Inc. Clients include the Vermont State House and Dartmouth College. She is a 2008-2009 RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.
John Hames: BA, Education, URI; MFA, Photography, Savannah College of Art and Design. Hames has taught at several area colleges. In 2007, he taught photography at the Beijing Institute of Clothing and Technology. He is the recipient of various awards and fellowships, and his work has been exhibited in the US and in China.
Steven Hayes: BA, Fine Art and Art Education, UMass/Dartmouth; MFA, UMass/Amherst. Hayes has experience as a visual and performing artist and art educator, and he has taught throughout New England. He is currently an instructor of Theater Arts and Stage Design at the All Children's Theatre in Pawtucket.
Nicholas Holcomb: BFA, Sculpture, RISD. Holcomb has been a teaching assistant for RISD|CE, as well as working as a performer and creative assistant for Ten31 Productions. He also independently builds solid body electric instruments.
Louis Jannetta: BS, Art Education, RIC; MED, Providence College; MAE, RISD. Jannetta is an assistant principal in the Providence Public School System, where he previously taught visual arts for more than 20 years. His work is part of the permanent collection at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Museum in Chicago.
Jane Kernan: BFA, Film/Animation/Video, RISD. Currently working on her own short animations, Kernan has been a Teaching Assistant for several RISD|CE and RISD Pre-College classes, and has experience in computer programming, animation, and various 3D software programs.
Steve Krohn: BA, MF, Duke University; MBA, The Wharton School; advanced WSET wine certificate, Johnson & Wales University. Krohn, who has twenty years of experience working with wineries, is currently Director of Sales and Marketing for Newport Vineyards. He and his wife Debra own the Rockwell House Inn in Bristol, RI and in 2005 founded the New England Wine School.
Nancy Laurienzo: BFA, Roger Williams College; Certificate, Interior Design, RISD|CE. Laurienzo specializes in interior design for hospitality projects and currently is a lead designer for TriMark United East. Prior to that she was a freelance interior designer. Clients have included South County Hospital, in South Kingstown, RI and the Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown, RI.
Amanda Lebel: BFA, Printmaking, University of Hartford; MFA, Printmaking, RISD; Certificate Program, Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning, Brown University. Lebel is owner of and instructor for her own press, Ama-Bel Press. In addition to having taught Book Arts at RISD, she has received a number of grants and fellowships, including for the moku hanga workshop at Anderson Ranch. Her work has been included in several Print Biennials, museum shows and in printmaking exhibits throughout the Northeast.
Amy Leidtke: BFA, Columbus College of Art and Design; MID, RISD. For 20 years, Leidtke has designed toys, activities and interactive play and learning environments for families and children. She specializes in facilitating community-based design workshops, leading participatory group brainstorming sessions, master and strategic planning, and idea visualization. In addition to RISD|CE, she is also a faculty member for the RISD graduate and undergraduate programs.
Joe Marianek: BFA, Graphic Design, RISD. He is a freelance designer in New York City and has worked on books, posters and identity systems for several design consultancies including Pentagram and Landor. His print design work has been featured in the trade periodicals Print, Eye and I.D. Magazine as well as AIGA- and SEGD-distributed publications. Currently he is authoring a book about miniature books.
Steven J. McDonald: AB, Duke University; JD, Yale Law School. McDonald is General Counsel at Rhode Island School of Design and previously served as Associate Legal Counsel at The Ohio State University. He has handled a number of Internet-related legal matters, ranging from alleged infringements of copyrighted materials on student web pages to investigations of computer break-ins. He has taught courses in Internet law at Ohio State's College of Law and at Capital University Law School.
Christopher McInerney: BFA, Illustration, RISD. McInerney is a freelance illustrator and art teacher who has taught in a variety of settings, from children's camp to college critique. Often working with digital media, he is experienced in bridging the gap between traditional ways of art-making and technology-rich approaches to visual storytelling. He teaches art at the foundation level at Kents Hill School in Maine.
Naomi Messier: BS, Rhode Island College. Carr has been teaching at the elementary level in the Warwick public schools for the past ten years. She was honored as the RI Elementary Art Educator of the Year in 2007. A frequent recipient of VSA Arts and RISCA grants, she specializes in public ceramic murals.
Carlotta Danzante Miller: BFA, West Chester University; MFA, Visual Design/Textiles, UMass Dartmouth. Miller has been teaching for nearly 20 years at schools throughout the Northeast. She has worked for 6 years as a colorist for the textile industry and is currently working as a pattern designer (for space/flight suits) at David Clark Co., Inc. Her quilts, constructed of hand printed fabrics, and hand woven wall hangings have been exhibited throughout the country.
Kim Mills: MA, PhD, Cultural Anthropology, University of Chicago. Mills caught the Oriental rug bug while conducting research in North Africa as an undergraduate student, and has been collecting ever since. Over the years, she has incorporated her love of Oriental rugs and textiles into many of her courses. She has used her textile collections to supplement museum collections so that students can gain hands-on experience in courses such as Textiles and Culture and Cultures of the Middle East and North Africa.
Lauren Minco: BFA, Illustration, RISD. Minco has shown her work in numerous galleries and does freelance work for such clients as Scholastic Press and various magazines. She is on the faculty of Montserrat College of Art. Recent gallery showings have included Silver Circle Studio (CT) and Hive Gallery (CA).
Anna Mogilevsky: BFA, Painting, RISD; MFA, Painting, Massachusetts College of Art. In addition to RISD|CE, Mogilevsky teaches at Bridgewater State College. She is a painter and actively exhibits her work both nationally and internationally, and has been in numerous juried shows.
Pat Ubaldi Nurnberger: BFA, Apparel Design, RISD. Following a 20-year career as an apparel designer and merchandise manager in New York, Ubaldi Nurnberger developed an interest in costuming and apprenticed with ballet costume professionals. She recently launched a new company, "The Tutu Lady," which specializes in dance costumes, and costumed a participant in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix.
John Orton: Prior to joining Stoneblossom Floral & Event Design, Orton owned a special event and floral design firm with clients in Paris, Florence, Prague, Capetown, Scotland, Ireland and the US. He designed for the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney and Salt Lake City, as well as the PGA Golf and World Cup Soccer Tournaments.
David Paolino: BSET, Wentworth Institute of Technology; BFA, Illustration, and MA, Art Education, RISD. Paolino has practiced architectural, interior, electronic and mechanical design since 1967, has taught at Wentworth Institute for 20 years, and is the Advisor for RISD|CE's Interior Design Certificate Program.
Matthew E. Paquin: BA, URI; Certificate, Computer Animation, RISD|CE. Paquin has worked as a glassblower, graphic designer, freelance videographer, and dock worker for the Block Island Ferry. With a background in live action filmmaking, he works in both hand-drawn 2D and computer-generated 3D animation. Currently he teaches sequential art and video at School One in Providence.
Frank Piccirillo: BS, Art Education, and BFA, Painting, RIC. He is a certified art teacher currently working at the Paul Cuffee School West. His artwork has been exhibited in the Providence area.
Sharon Pollock: BFA, Ceramics, University of Minnesota; BS, Art Education, SUNY/Buffalo; MFA, Ceramics, Swain School of Design at Boston University. Pollock has taught at area colleges, served as Director of the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and lectured for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. She is also an exhibiting studio artist.
Gabrielle Portal: BFA, Illustration, RISD. Portal is owner of the freelance illustration studio Portal Studios Inc., concentrating on science fiction/fantasy and comic art. She has worked for companies including Wizards of the Coast and Fantasy Flight Games on a variety of projects and has had work exhibited in Spectrum: The Best of Contemporary Fantastic Art.
Jules Ramos: Culinary Arts, Johnson & Wales University. Ramos has nearly 20 years of experience in the culinary arts. He has been Executive Chef and consultant for Mill's Tavern, 10 Prime Steak & Sushi and Moda Restaurant. He also served as Chef de Cuisine, Pastry Chef and Assistant Manager for the Atomic Grill and Cafe Nuovo. Currently, Ramos is Director of Culinary Development and Executive Chef for Eleven Forty Nine and Eleven Forty Nine East.
Jessie Rauch-Dickson: BA, Computer Science, Smith College; MFA, Graphic Design, RISD. Rauch-Dickson is a graphic designer experienced in the development of imaging, typographic and branding systems, and in translating visual concepts across a variety of media. Her professional history includes positions at multinational agencies and Fortune 500 clientele.
Stacy Bloom Rexrode: BFA, Art History, Dickinson College. Associates Degree, Graphic Design, Antonelli Institute of Art. Rexrode is a fine artist and licensed contractor in Massachusetts. Taking into consideration both sustainability and green design, she has been involved in all phases of various scale residential projects, her most recent being the conversion of a 1910 concrete cattle barn to a contemporary residence.
Bill Riker: BFA, Glass, Alfred University; MFA, Glass/Sculpture, RISD. Riker has operated a glass studio since 1975, and he is proprietor of Riker Art Glass, based in East Providence. His work is exhibited at craft galleries throughout the US.
Bryan Rodrigues: BA, History and Education, RIC; International Certificate Program for New Media, IMedia. Rodrigues has taught graphic design at Katherine Gibbs School, as well as computer graphics courses for IMedia and the Learning Connection. He has also taught in RISD's Industrial Design department since 2008, and is the head product designer at Zultan International.
Cynthia Ross-Meeks: BFA, Fashion Design, and MAE, RISD. A freelance fashion designer, Ross-Meeks has designed bridal and sportswear collections and produced product samples for Hasbro. She currently teaches visual arts in the Providence Public School System, and she has been Resident Costume Designer for Brown University's Rites and Reasons Theatre since 1999. Her work has been exhibited at The RISD Museum and other local galleries.
Kathryn Rotondo: Fast Track Certificate in Flash, RISD|CE; Certificate in Applied Sciences, Harvard Extension School; BA, French Studies, Smith College. Rotondo is a freelance developer working in Adobe Flash, Flex and Air, as well as coauthor of Adobe AIR in Action from Manning Publications. She is currently working as a channel developer at Litl.
Julie Ruditzky: BA, Communications and Media Studies, Fordham University. A television news reporter, Ruditzky has won numerous awards, including an Associated Press "Instant Citation" for breaking news coverage. Her work has been featured on Fox News Channel and CNN. She currently works for the Rhode Island ABC affiliate as a field reporter.
Steven Ruggieri: Studies in Fine Arts, California College of Arts and Crafts. He is currently Director of Marketing/Art Director for Creative Circle Advertising Solutions. Formerly he was Art Director for RDW Group, Inc. in Providence and creative director at Donnelly & Duncan, a business-to-business advertising agency. Ruggieri has won awards from the New York and National BMA (Business Marketing Association).
Gail Saborio: BS and MAE, Arts Education, RIC. She has been a visual arts teacher in the South Kingstown School System since 1996, and has received the Sallie Mae First Class Teacher of the Year Award as well as numerous arts-based grants.
Paul Santos: BFA, UMass, MEd, Bridgewater State College. Santos is an interior designer and part owner of Boston Staging & Design. He began his career as a fine art and antiques dealer working with both the public and private sectors. His clients include the New Bedford Preservation Society, New Bedford's Waterfront Historic Area League, Bay Cove Boston, as well as several school districts and garden clubs throughout Massachusetts.
Stephen Souza Jr.: BS, Digital Recording Arts, New England Institute of Technology. Souza is a freelance videographer, as well as an independent filmmaker and writer. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at New England Institute of Technology, specializing in video and studio production.
Fred Spencer: AA, Antelope Valley College; studies in film and 3D animation and modeling, UCLA Extension. Spencer has more than 11 years experience in content, conceptual, multimedia, graphic and print design. He is proficient in design applications and web authoring tools, and has taught web design courses at Antelope Valley College.
Susannah Strong: BFA, Painting, RISD; MA, Visual Art/Textiles, Goldsmiths College, London. Strong teaches at Salve Regina University and has worked for the Preservation Society of Newport County as a conservationist. Her sculptural and video work has been exhibited at Art in General's Video Marathon (NYC), Gallery 33 (London), the David Winton Bell Gallery (Brown University) and the Dactyl Foundation (NYC). She has been awarded several RISCA grants, a fellowship from the Bronx Museum of Arts and completed several residencies including the Edward Albee Foundation.
Marc Torick: BFA, University of the Arts; MFA, New York Academy of Art. Torick has taught in RISD's Illustration Department and in the Fine Arts Department at UMass/Dartmouth. He also painted for the 1996 Olympic Games project at Malcolm Grear Designers, and for Kips Bay Designer Showhouse.
Reece Tormos: MBA, Harvard Business School; MPA, Kennedy School of Government; Certificate, Interior Design, RISD|CE. Tormos is a Designer for the Rhode Island Design Center. A former management consultant, Tormos was a Principal at Abt Associates, and President/Owner of Tormos & Associates.
Karen Triedman: AB, Brown University; MA, SUNY/Albany; MFA, University of Chicago. Triedman works as a color designer and visual marketing consultant for entertainment facilities, retailers, shopping centers and manufacturers. Also a freelance writer, she co-authored Color Graphics and contributed to Breaking Designer's Block, both published by Rockport Publishers.
Emma Tripp: BFA, Film/Animation/Video, RISD. Tripp is a filmmaker, animator, and freelance illustrator, and currently works as a graphic and conceptual artist for Gaia Interactive. She has screened at Ottawa International Animation Festival and her illustrations have appeared in several publications. She has extensive assistant teaching experience in RISD's F/A/V department, as well as with the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts and the After School Arts program at Reservoir Avenue Elementary in Providence.
Kurt Van Dexter: BLA, URI; MAT, RISD. A registered landscape architect, designer and painter, as well as a certified K-12 visual arts teacher, Van Dexter has worked with many schools to develop gardens and outdoor classrooms. His paintings have won numerous awards and have been exhibited in the US and abroad. He runs a landscape architecture and design business. He is a 2009-2010 RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.
Michael Veracka: BA, English, Providence College; MLA, RISD. Veracka owns a landscape design and construction business. His work has won numerous design awards and has been featured in Garden Design Magazine and Organic Gardening Magazine. He has taught at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University.
Wayne Vieira: BFA, Illustration, RISD. He is Vice President of Design Services at Advertising Ventures Inc., where he directs all aspects of design projects, including advertising campaigns, print publications, collateral materials, websites, and interactive media for companies such as AOL, CVS/pharmacy, Textron, Geneva Pharmaceuticals, and COX Communications. Previously Vieira served as Art Director for Medical World Publishing Company.
Evan Villari: BA, Communications Studies, URI. A filmmaker, writer and musician, Villari is founder of EViL Films, an independent film and video production company. His work has appeared on the Discovery Channel and he recently shot a series of television spots for the JMW School for the Arts in Pawtucket. His film writings have been featured in Providence Monthly and in The Agenda. A multi-format project on the identity of the ever-developing city he calls home, Providence, is currently in its production phase. He is a 2009-2010 RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.
Dina Zaccagnini Vincent: BFA, Graphic Design, BGD and MAT, RISD. Vincent has held positions as senior designer in RISD's Design Marketing Collaborative and plus design inc., Boston. She created her own studio in 2003 and now designs limited edition and one-of-a-kind books, typographic design and conceptual fine art pieces. She has received awards from the AIGA, American Center for Design 100 Show, Graphis, Print, and the Type Directors Club. She is advisor for RISD|CE's Certificate Program in Print Design Process + Production and is a 2007-2008 RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.
Barbara Voccola: BFA, Graphic Design, and MAT, RISD. Voccola has taught secondary and elementary students and was involved in Studio in the Museum at Veazie Street Elementary School. She is a visual arts teacher in Cranston and is a 2008-2009 RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.
Blue Wade: BA, Practice of Art and Interdisciplinary Studies, University of California/Berkeley; Studies in Maori Art and Culture, Massey University; MFA, Digital Media, RISD. Wade has taught art in primary and secondary schools and art centers for more than ten years. She has also taught rapid prototyping in the RISD degree programs, and is the Advisor for the Computer Animation Certificate Program. Her work has been exhibited in New York, California, Rhode Island and New Zealand.
Lydia Walshin: BA, Journalism, Douglass College. Walshin is a former contributing editor and award-winning food writer for Rhode Island Monthly magazine and is author of South End Cooks: Recipes from a Boston Neighborhood. An experienced cooking instructor, Walshin created Ninecooks.com and writes a popular food blog called The Perfect Pantry. She is founder of Drop In & Decorate Cookies for Donation.
Kateri Weiss: Studied at Interlochen Center for the Arts, DeWaters Art Center and Mott Community College. A professional sculptor, painter and designer, Weiss specializes in restoration, with a focus on indigenous peoples of the Americas. She is also a recognized expert in the authentication of Zuni fetish carving, Leekya Deyuse and his Zuni peers.
Cathy Wilkerson: BFA, Textile Design, RISD. A buyer and merchandiser in the home furnishings industry for almost two decades, Wilkerson has developed product with leading textiles manufacturers in Europe, India and the US. She is currently the Southern New England Territory Manager for both Carole and Tapestria Fabrics.
Jim Williams: BA, English and Political Science, San Diego State University. Williams spent the ten years following college working in various bakeries, honing his skills as a bread baker. He and his wife, Lynn, own Seven Stars Bakery, specializing in traditional breads and pastries. Their dedicated facility in Pawtucket supplies its retail stores (Hope Street and Broad Street in Providence) as well as wholesale customers.
Robin Wiseman: BFA, Architecture, and BAR, RISD; MFA, Drawing, UMass/Dartmouth. Wiseman has taught at RISD, RIC and Brandeis University. Besides RISD|CE, he currently teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art. He has received a Church Award in teaching, and his work has appeared in galleries and shows throughout New England.
Julia Wolin: BA, English, SUNYA; Certificate, International Certificate Program for New Media, RISD|CE. With professional experience in a variety of digital and traditional media, and an abiding love for storytelling and concept development, Wolin has taught storyboarding for RISD|CE and served as a project management resource for students in the International Certificate Program for New Media. Past projects have included 3D content development for VR displays and interactive web-based training manuals, web design and development, and art direction for a U.S. Navy sponsored documentary film.
Shane Wood: Bachelor of Architecture, Roger Williams University. Wood has been a project architect for M. Holland & Sons Construction, and was a project manager for Campbell/Smith Architects. Also a freelance draftsman/designer, he has done work for Signature Bath and Kitchens, the Wiese Company and Hanssem Corporation.
John Wormley: BAR, University of Illinois, Urbana. He has worked in interior design for clients in business, medicine, government and the hospitality industry. His experience includes construction administration for multimillion-dollar office, restaurant and hotel projects. Currently, he is principal of Lenox Hospitality Design.
Amy Bartlett Wright: BA, University of Maryland; Certificate, Scientific and Technical Illustration, RISD|CE. An accomplished muralist and scientific illustrator, Wright has painted commissions for the Smithsonian Institution, Staten Island Zoo, Roger Williams Park Zoo, Buttonwood Park Zoo, New England Aquarium, Museum of Science Boston, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Save The Bay and National Geographic Society. She is a member of the Society of Animal Artists, advisor for the RISD|CE Natural Science Illustration program and a 2009-2010 RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.
Adrian Burke Zeller: BS, Studio Art: Textile Design and Photography, Skidmore College; AAS, Apparel Design and Service, Seattle Central Community College; MFA, Design and Technology, Parsons School of Design. Zeller specializes in computer-aided design for the apparel and textile industries and works as a technology consultant, CAD textile designer and graphic artist in New York City and Boston.
Walter Zesk: BA, Wesleyan University; MArch, RISD; Sheridan Teaching Certificate, Brown University. Prior to beginning the MArch program at RISD, Zesk worked on Cape Cod building custom wooden sailboats. He was awarded third place in the 2008 Lyceum Competition, a national design contest, and has also been awarded a fellowship to study complex emergent systems at the Santa Fe Institute.
