OVERVIEW: FACULTY

Deanna Agresti: BFA, Graphic Design, RISD; MAT, RISD. Agresti teaches graphic design courses at CCRI, and has held long-term substitute positions in art education in West Warwick and Providence. A freelance graphic designer, she recently started Hi Five Designs, an invitation design company.

Ajax Alexandre: BA, Theatre, Ohio State University; MFA, Furniture Design, UMass/ Dartmouth. Alexandre is a custom furniture maker and sculptor working in wood, metal and glass. He has taught furniture design and three-dimensional design at UMass.

Manuel Cordero Alvarado: BA, Architecture, Yale University; MA, University of California, Berkeley. A practicing architect at 3SIX0 in Providence, Alvarado also teaches architecture in RISD's BFA program. He has worked at several architecture firms and taught at the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley. He has been a guest critic at universities including MIT and California College of the Arts, and has received fellowships from AIA, Laub and Bates.

Patricia Atwood: AB, Cornell University; MA, Princeton University. Atwood is an accredited member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA). She worked at The Time Museum (Rockford, Ill) for twenty years before becoming a full-time appraiser. As an appraiser for Timely Antique Appraisals LLC, Atwood has experience in antique clocks, furniture and decorative arts as well as residential and office contents.

Rachel Balaban: BA, International Political Journalism, Brown University. Balaban is co-founder of Wabi-Sabi Way, LLC, and is a certified instructor in Kripalu Yogadance/Shake Your Soul, having instructed movement classes with people of all ages. She lectures on "integrating the arts into the curriculum" in the teacher certification program at Roger Williams University and has been a clothing designer under her own label, Potjandozie, for more than 20 years.

Adrienne Benz: BS, Civil Engineering, Colorado State University; M.Arch, RISD. Benz is a visiting critic in RISD's Architecture Department. Previously a builder for Massie Architecture, she now works for Truth Box, Inc. and runs her own business, TAPdesign, focusing primarily on design/builds. She also volunteers at New Urban Arts, a nationally recognized interdisciplinary art studio for high school students, and holds a ceramics residency at the Steel Yard in Providence.

Ellen Blomgren: A ceramic artist specializing in surrealistic sculpture, Blomgren owns Mudstone Studios in Warren. An Artist Educator for RISCA, her public installations include Rhode Island Hospital, Woodlawn Community Center in Pawtucket and more than a dozen schools throughout Rhode Island. Recent exhibitions include Deblois Gallery in Newport and Imago Gallery in Warren.

Robin Brandes: BBA, UMass. Brandes spent the early part of her career in marketing before becoming a Certified Health Counselor. She is accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP), and received her education from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is affiliated with Columbia University. Her company, Robin Health Coach, takes a bio-individual approach to the design of its health programs.

Olga Bravo and Rebecca Wagner: Bravo and Wagner are co-owners of Providence's Olga's Cup and Saucer, and are also artists outside the kitchen. They prepare baked goods from scratch using fresh ingredients and local produce, and Wagner designs the cafe's display trays, tables, and wrought-iron wall sculptures, while Bravo's drawings and paintings illustrate a 1995 children's book about Olga's Cup & Saucer and decorate the walls of the shop.

Amy Lynn Budd: BA, Theater, Indiana State University. Budd has worked as a freelance stage director, performer and producer for nearly 15 years, and specializes in new play development. Her original performance piece, The Thing That Ate My Brain - Almost, was produced at Perishable Theatre in April and May 2009. She has served as Artist in Residence at Oakland Beach Elementary in Warwick since 2005.

Bruce Campbell: MS, Human-Computing Interface Science, University of Washington-Seattle; MS, Computer Science, RPI; MS, Information Science, University of Wisconsin-Madison. A virtual community specialist who extends organizations through Web architecture, Campbell spent ten years working at the cross-disciplinary Human Interface Technology Laboratory. He currently develops innovative computer-mediated communications through Web strategies at The Ocean Project in Providence.

Barbara Capalbo: BA, Western Maryland College. Capalbo studied lighting at NYU and at Lester Polokov's Studio and Forum of Stage Design. A designer, lecturer and consultant, she has designed theatrical lighting for more than 28 years and architectural lighting for more than 12 years. She is a Lighting Design member of United Scenic Artists.

Melissa Cardillo: BS, Elementary Education, URI; MAT, Art Education, Rhode Island College. Cardillo is presently teaching visual arts for Central Falls Schools and has previously been an art educator in the Westerly and North Providence Public School systems. She also has experience with printmaking, jewelry design, painting and art history.

Donald Chabot: BS, Art Education, RIC; MEd, Special Education, Providence College. Chabot is a visual arts instructor in the Pawtucket schools, where he is a member of the internationally recognized Start with Arts program. He is also past president of the executive board of the RI Art Education Association.

Deborah M. Child: BA, MA, Art History, Queen's University. Child is an independent art historian and museum consultant based in Portsmouth, NH. Past curatorial experience includes the Strawbery Banke Museum; Northeast Auctions; Warner House Association; as well as the Portsmouth Historical Society and the Rye Historical Society. She is author of the book The Sketchbooks of John Samuel Blunt.

Michael Conetta: At age 21, Conetta was named Sous Chef at The Holiday Inn in Providence, under the direction of Chef Sal Braga. He has also been mentored by Chef Casey Riley of Newport Harbor Corporation, and is now Executive Chef at the Waterman Grille. Previously, he served as Chef of Catering Operations for Gatehouse Catering.

Lauren Conti: BS, Art Education, Rhode Island College; BA, Graphic Design, Rhode Island College. Conti is currently a web design teacher at Ponaganset High School, and a graphic designer for Updike's Newtowne Coffee Roasting Company. She is the recipient of various awards, including the congressional art award.

Suzi Cozzens: BFA, Graphic Design, RISD; AOS, Culinary Institute of America; MFA, Book and Paper Arts, Columbia College. Cozzens is a graphic designer, window designer and owner of Boxmaker, a book and box-making studio in Providence. She teaches papermaking, bookbinding and letterpress printing at RISD. Her assemblages have been exhibited in numerous galleries throughout New England. She is a RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.

Mary Beth Cryan: BFA, Illustration, Syracuse University. Cryan worked full-time as a fashion accessory designer and toy and home goods designer before starting her own freelance illustration studio. She specializes in digital illustration, surface pattern design, paper engineering and product design for such clients as The Museum of Modern Art, Toys "R" Us, Barnes & Noble, Intervisual Books, American Greetings, Robert Sabuda, Old Navy, JCPenney and Target.

Jennaca Davies: BS, Building Sciences and BArch, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; MFA, Jewelry and Metalsmithing, RISD; International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg, Austria. An architectural designer and jeweler, Davies recently completed a four-month residency at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. Her work has been exhibited in shows both nationally and internationally, including the Talente exhibition in Munich, Germany, the Gallery of Art in Legnica, Poland and Galerie V&V in Vienna, Austria.

Cynthia Davis: BFA, Printmaking, Maine College of Art; MFA, Fibers, UMass/Dartmouth. Davis has taught Drawing, Fibers and Printmaking in Maine College of Art's Continuing Education program. She has completed a number of residency programs, including on Monhegan Island. Her work is based on maps and map-making and has been exhibited widely, including at the Tate Museum in London and Institute of Contemporary Art in Maine.

Bryson Dean: BA, Studio Art, Kenyon College; MFA, Fine Arts, The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Dean has been a graphic designer since the mid-1980s in the fields of corporate communications, multimedia, television and education. Her current work involves teaching, graphic design and personal creative work that springs from the intersections of fine art, design and technology.

Amy Wynne Derry: BA, Art History, Smith College; MFA, Painting, New York Academy of Figurative Art. Derry has taught human and animal anatomy to artists since 1991 and has illustrated for the Museums of Natural History in New York, Paris and Providence. She is a faculty member in the Painting/Drawing Department of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She has had many exhibits of her work, most recently at 5 Traverse Gallery and the Chazan Gallery in Providence.

Jana DeSimone: BFA, Sculpture; BS, Art Education, RIC. DeSimone has taught previously for RISD|CE and presently teaches visual arts at the Junior High level in the Warwick Public Schools. She is a mixed-media artist who has shown her work locally.

Michael DiMucci: BA, Visual Arts Studies/Architecture, RWU; MAT, RISD. DiMucci is the Art Director/Lead Visual Arts Instructor at Times2 Academy, a charter school in Providence where he teaches art and design courses. He also teaches at his studio, Lime Rock Design, with other artists in Lincoln, RI.

Jenn Dlugos is an award-winning screenwriter affiliated with the Francis Ford Coppola American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest, the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Kids First! Film Festival, Twin Rivers Media Festival, the Feel Good Film Festival and the Vine Entertainment Festival. She is currently a judge for the Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) Screenwriting Competition and coordinates ScriptBiz, RIIFF's two-day screenwriting conference.

Lindsay Elgin: BA, Fine Arts, Amherst College; Studies in Photography, Glasgow School of Art; Certificate in Collegiate Teaching, Sheridan Center at Brown University; MFA, Photography, RISD. Elgin is a digital photographer for Brown University Library's Center for Digital Initiatives, and her work has been exhibited in Amherst, Providence, Tucson, Glasgow and Edinburgh. She is Advisor for the Digital Photography Certificate Program and is a RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.

Eric Emerson: BA, RIC. Formerly a production assistant for Eagle Beach Productions of Providence and WHJY and WHJJ radio stations in East Providence, Emerson began his career as a web architect at the Providence professional services firm ExNihilo. He is currently the owner of his own web development company, Emerson Creative, and has been teaching at RISD|CE since 2000.

Anne Emlein: MFA, Textiles, RISD; BFA, Textiles, California College of Arts and Crafts. Emlein teaches machine knitting, textiles for apparel, and fine arts textile courses in the Textile Department at RISD. She has exhibited her knitwear, apparel and fine arts work throughout the country.

Chris Eramo: Former General Manager of the Susan Sargent Designs flagship store on Newbury Street in Boston, Eramo worked with clients on design projects and was the imaginative force behind the visual design of this flagship location. He has consulted with various retailers on the interior setup of retail stores throughout the country. Eramo's staging success can also be attributed to 20 years of experience buying, staging and selling homes in the Boston market.

Patricia A. Fair: BS, Nebraska Wesleyan University; MA, Texas Christian University; Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Art + Antiques, RISD|CE. Fair is President of Fairhaven Associates LLC, a personal property appraisal firm. She specializes in the appraisal of textiles, is the volunteer Curator of Textiles at the Sterling (MA) Historical Society, and a needlework artist.

Rhonda Fargnoli studied Fashion Design and Textiles at Chamberlain School of Design, and taught art and studio art in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for 15 years. Her knitwear pattern designs include: Blue Sky Alpaca Yarn, which premiered in the first issue of Vogue Knitting's Knit Simple; and designs for Sheep Shop Yarn Co. Her new line of baby sweaters can be purchased under the COZY designs label.

Beverly Ferguson: Degree in Applied Science of Interior Design, Chamberlayne College. Ferguson is a principal/designer for Exciting Windows! by The Reflective Designer. Both a practicing interior designer and fine artist, her work has been published by the Polaroid Corporation. She is a member of the Copley Society of Art, an allied member of ASID, and has taught for RISD, The Fuller Museum and Cennini Studios.

Anne Finelli: BFA, Apparel Design, RISD; BA, French and Art History, Hamilton College; studies at Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design. Finelli has taught Patternmaking at the Brookfield Craft Center and has 15 years experience working in New York's Garment Center, with expertise in fashion design, merchandising, production, knit wear and patternmaking.

David Fleurant: Advanced Photography, Rhode Island School of Photography. A photographer with more than 30 years of experience, Fleurant is owner of Light Impressions Photography & Design, a studio specializing in product and corporate stock photography. He is also a career and technical advisor for Attleboro High School. His work has been exhibited in the US and Great Britain, including his solo show Into the Light, Faces of Peru.

Deborah Forman: BFA, Film/Animation/Video, RISD; MED, Massachusetts College of Art; MFA, Painting, Parsons School of Design. Forman has taught at RISD, Massachusetts College of Art, Parsons School of Design and Wheaton College. An accomplished painter, she has exhibited her work at galleries throughout New England. She is an assistant professor of art at Wheaton College.

Kim Fuller: BFA, Photography, RISD. Fuller is co-founder of Wabi-Sabi Way, LLC. She has run a photography business in Middletown, RI for 20 years and has taught photography at the Newport Art Museum, Island Arts and through the Learning Connection. She also teaches meditation.

Mary Geisser: BS, Early Childhood Education, URI; MED, Creative Arts and Learning, Lesley University; PhD candidate, Educational Studies, Lesley University. Geisser is a poet, visual artist and former resident artist at AS220 and has worked as a stage manager for Perishable Theater. She was an Early Childhood Educator at Brown/Fox Point Early Childhood Education Center for four years.

Mitch Goldstein: BFA, Graphic Design, RISD. Goldstein is the principal of a small design studio in Providence. He has taught Graphic Design in the RISD degree program and other institutions in New England, and has done design work for John Hancock, the US Department of Health & Human Services and RISD's Center for Design and Business, among others.

Anna Kristina Goransson: BFA, Furniture, RISD; MFA, Fibers, UMass. Goransson has taught fibers classes at UMass/Dartmouth, workshops at the Fuller Craft Museum, and children's classes at RISD. She was a recent Artist in Residence at Oregon College of Art and Craft.

David B. Gray: BFA, Graphic Design, RISD. Gray was former managing editor for graphics and managing editor for technology at the Providence Journal-Bulletin. An authorized QuarkXPress trainer, he has taught for RISD|CE and the American Press Institute, and was a Gannett Journalist-in-Residence at Colorado State University. He is cofounder, executive director and former treasurer of the Society for News Design.

Matt Grigsby: BFA, Industrial Design, RISD. Grigsby is CEO and co-founder of Ecolect, a web-based company that provides information and news about sustainable materials for design related fields from architecture to product design. He runs the sustainable transportation blog, Alternative Transit, is chair of the Rhode Island chapter of Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), and co-chair of IDSA's Eco Design Section.

Roland Gutierrez: BA, English, URI. Gutierrez has 18 years of experience working as a professional photographer. He owns Shane Photography, a commercial studio specializing in architectural, portrait and product photography. His work has been published in The Photo Review and Yankee Magazine, among other publications.

Louise T. Hall: BA, Maryville University; MED, Suffolk University; Graduate Studies, Northeastern University. Hall is an accredited senior appraiser of antiques and decorative arts with the American Society of Appraisers and is president of L.T. Hall Appraisals, Inc. Clients include the Vermont State House and Dartmouth College. She is a RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.

John Hames: BA, Education, URI; MFA, Photography, Savannah College of Art and Design. Hames has taught at several area colleges. In 2007, he taught photography at the Beijing Institute of Clothing and Technology. He is the recipient of various awards and fellowships, and his work has been exhibited in the US and in China.

Amie Hannon: BFA, Ceramics/Art Education, RIC; BA, Elementary Education/History, RIC. Having been immersed in the study and practice of Preservation Architecture at RWU and abroad, Hannon aims to tap the sense of wonder and knowledge inspired in us by architects throughout history. Her artwork has been shown in juried exhibitions. She has been teaching children and adults in public schools and private venues for 20 years.

Steven Hayes: BA, Fine Art and Art Education, UMass/Dartmouth; MFA, UMass/Amherst. Hayes has experience as a visual and performing artist and art educator, and he has taught throughout New England. He is currently an instructor of Theater Arts and Stage Design at the All Children's Theatre in Pawtucket.

Matthew Hewett: A graduate of Johnson and Wales University, Hewett is Chief Operating Officer of RobaDolce, a Providence-based company dedicated to making authentic Italian gelato. The company makes and delivers gelato, sorbetto, scoops, cannolis and pies to more than 1,500 supermarkets from Virginia to New Hampshire. Hewett previously was executive chef at Legal Sea Foods, Capital Grille and David's of Stamford, CT.

Cooper Holoweski: BFA, Printmaking, University of Michigan; MFA, Printmaking, RISD. Holoweski has been an artist in residence in Finland and Chile, and was the recipient of the Patricia and Robert Llewellyn Award for Print Media and the RISD Award of Excellence. His solo and group exhibitions have included the Contemporary Arts Collective in Las Vegas and the International Print Center in NYC, and his work is in many corporate and private collections.

Patricia Huntington: AB, Brown University; MFA, Painting, SUNY/Albany. Honored as the RI Art Educator of the Year in 2006-2007, Huntington teaches art in the Warwick Public School System. She has students from pre-K through adult and has worked extensively with special-needs and at-risk students. Her artwork has been exhibited in South America and the US.

Louis Jannetta: BS, Art Education, RIC; MED, Providence College; MAE, RISD. Jannetta is an assistant principal in the Providence Public School System, where he previously taught visual arts for more than 20 years. His work is part of the permanent collection at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Museum in Chicago.

Lila Jarzombek: BFA, Painting, Rhode Island College; MFA, Painting, University of Washington. Jarzombek is a painter who has received several awards including from the University of Washington and the Rhode Island Foundation. Her exhibition experience includes shows at the Sandpoint Gallery and Jacob Lawrence Gallery (both in Seattle, WA), and at the Labyrinth Gallery in Providence.

Derek Jolie: A Rhode Island native and graduate of Johnson & Wales, Jolie is Executive Chef for Blackstone Caterers. He began his career with Marriot International, and subsequently joined the Newport Harbor Corporation's culinary team. While at Blackstone Caterers, he has created dishes for some of Rhode Island's most prestigious events, including the 50th Anniversary of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the Tall Ships Gala and the US Women's Open.

Jennifer Thayer Karl: BFA, Ceramics, and MAT, RISD. Thayer is currently teaching art and ceramics at the Providence Country Day School, and has created several ceramic installations for the city of Providence.

Jane Kernan: BFA, Film/Animation/Video, RISD. Currently working on her own short animations, Kernan has been a Teaching Assistant for several RISD|CE and RISD Pre-College classes, and has experience in computer programming, animation, and various 3D software programs.

Shadi Khadivi: BS, Architecture, University of Texas; MArch, RISD. A designer for Payette Associates in Boston, Khadivi is working on the design for the new campus of the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. As a Fulbright fellow, she researched and documented squatter developments in the migrant communities of Izmir, Turkey. She has been a visiting critic at RISD, and has taught at City Arts in Providence and The Citizens Schools in Mattapan, MA.

Christian Kozaki; BFA, Fashion Design, FIT; Associates Degrees, Illustration and Art and Design, FIT. Kozaki has extensive experience in the fashion industry, including production management, patternmaking, draping, forecasting and consulting. He was the Designer/Owner of his own private label of clothing and boutique collection and has worked for many fashion designers including Givenchy and Chloe in Paris and Randolph Duke and Christian Dior in New York. He is also a fine artist and has had numerous shows of his paintings and prints.

Steve Krohn: BA, MF, Duke University; MBA, The Wharton School; advanced WSET wine certificate, Johnson & Wales University. Krohn, who has twenty years of experience working with wineries, is currently Director of Sales and Marketing for Newport Vineyards. He and his wife Debra own the Rockwell House Inn in Bristol, RI and in 2005 founded the New England Wine School.

Kathleen Larkin-Kuhn: BFA, Printmaking, and MAT, RISD. Design coordinator at the Bren Corporation in Cranston for 12 years, Larkin-Kuhn was involved in product development and manufacturing, including work for the Joan & David line of leather accessories. Her prints and sculptures have been shown in juried and group exhibitions, and she received the RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence Award. She also teaches for the RISD Museum Education Department.

Nancy Laurienzo: BFA, Roger Williams College; Certificate, Interior Design, RISD|CE. Laurienzo specializes in interior design for hospitality projects and currently is a lead designer for TriMark United East. Prior to that she was a freelance interior designer. Clients have included South County Hospital, in South Kingstown, RI and the Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown, RI.

Bruce Lenore: BFA, Hartford Art School; MFA, Ceramics, RISD. A studio artist since 1983, he has extensive ceramics experience. He currently teaches at Smithfield High School and at RIC, and his work is held in museum and private collections throughout the country.

Gale Litchfield: BA, UMass; MED and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study, Boston State College. Creative director and managing partner of her own advertising agency, Litchfield & Creative Partners, she has received regional and national awards for her creative excellence.

John Lovgren: MS, Instructional Technology, Rhode Island College; BS, Fire Science, Providence College. Lovgren, the owner and operator of John Lovgren Photography, specializes in event and portrait work. He is a longtime member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and previously received the "editor's choice" award for his work.

Ben Macomber: BS, UMass/Dartmouth. He has served as a visual arts specialist in the Attleboro Public School System, as a freelance illustrator and consultant, and as art supervisor in Skowhegan, ME, and North Brookfield, MA. Macomber is an artist member of the RI Watercolor Society. He received the 2005 RISD|CE Excellence in Teaching Award and is on the faculty of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and the Attleboro Arts Museum.

Kim Markarian: BS, Art Education, Rhode Island College. Markarian is a visual arts instructor at East Providence High School, and has taught for RISD's TACO program. She is the awards chairperson for the Rhode Island Art Education Association and a volunteer for the Scholastic Art Awards. She has worked as a professional model, personal shopper for Macy's, and currently produces local fashion shows.

Richard Marthers: BS, Art Education, RIC; additional studies with Frank Webb, AWS, Tony Van Hasselt, AWS, and Alvaro Castagnet. Marthers is an associate member of the American Watercolor Society and a signature member of the Northeast Watercolor Society.

Steven J. McDonald: AB, Duke University; JD, Yale Law School. McDonald is General Counsel at Rhode Island School of Design and previously served as Associate Legal Counsel at The Ohio State University. He has handled a number of Internet-related legal matters, ranging from alleged infringements of copyrighted materials on student web pages to investigations of computer break-ins. He has taught courses in Internet law at Ohio State's College of Law and at Capital University Law School.

Michael McGlynn is the web programming specialist for RISD's Department of Interactive Media. In addition to his duties at RISD, he maintains a web design and development consultancy in Providence, RI, with clients worldwide. Clients have included Northrop Grumman, The Boston Globe, Haemonetics, Management Sciences for Health, Boston Scientific and Philip Johnson Associates.

Christopher McInerney: BFA, Illustration, RISD. McInerney is a freelance illustrator and art teacher who has taught in a variety of settings, from children's camp to college critique. Often working with digital media, he is experienced in bridging the gap between traditional ways of art-making and technology-rich approaches to visual storytelling. He teaches art at the foundation level at Kents Hill School in Maine.

William McKenna: BFA and MA, Art Education, RISD. McKenna has taught in the Cumberland Public School System since 1972. His freelance work includes illustration, calligraphy, stained glass and sculpture.

Mara Metcalf: BFA, Painting, RISD; MFA, Painting, Tufts University. Metcalf has 15 years of teaching experience. She currently teaches for the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Mount Ida College. Her work has been exhibited at Lenore Gray Gallery, the Hera Gallery and Gallery 295 and is included in The RISD Museum and in private collections.

William Miller: BFA, RISD; BS, University of Dayton. Miller has taught in RISD's Painting Department since 1999 and is the Painting Department's Technician. He has received technical training from Winsor & Newton in England and has given numerous demonstrations and presentations on methods and materials to art colleges all over the US.

A.J. Morse: BFA, Landscape Architecture, RISD. Morse has taught visual arts in the Providence Public School System since 1999. She has had several artist residencies, including some for Very Special Arts Rhode Island.

Susan Mullins: BS, Clothing and Textile Design, Framingham State College. A Boston-based fashion stylist, Mullins is an expert seamstress and global shopper experienced with many facets of the apparel industry. The owner and founder of SusanStyle and a member of the Museum of Fine Arts Textile and Costume Society, Mullins has been featured in The Boston Globe, Boston Herald and Rhode Island Monthly.

Frank Murphy: BA, Architecture, Florida A&M University. Murphy, a registered architect, is principal and founder of Rhode Island based Frank J. Murphy Architect Inc. He has more than 16 years of experience, having worked with several top Rhode Island and international architecture/interior firms. His work ranges from international resorts, mixed use, commercial and medical facilities, as well as multi- and single-family residential projects.

Pat Ubaldi Nurnberger: BFA, Apparel Design, RISD. Following a 20-year career as an apparel designer and merchandise manager in New York, Ubaldi Nurnberger developed an interest in costuming and apprenticed with ballet costume professionals. She recently launched a new company, "The Tutu Lady," which specializes in dance costumes, and costumed a participant in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix.

Dawn Oliveira: BFA, Textiles, UMass. Oliveira founded DOT Studio in 1985 and designed textiles for Polo Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Dana Buchman, Emanuel Ungaro, Echo Design and Stark Carpet. Recently, she co-founded Oliveira Textiles, a Bristol, RI-based company that designs and produces contemporary, environmentally considerate fabrics for the interior design trade and consumer market.

Phil Oliveira: BFA, Illustration and Electronic Imaging, UMass/Dartmouth. Oliveira is a freelance illustrator and cartoonist whose creations and characters have appeared in print and video. Clients have included UMass/Dartmouth Athletics and Campus Activities, Franchise Studios and webMethods. He currently draws and writes Canned Ham, a weekly family-friendly web comic.

Paul Olson: BFA, Illustration, RISD. Olson is a freelance illustrator in traditional and electronic media whose work has received first-place awards, with clients including AT&T, Sony, Merlyn's Pen and the Weekly Reader. He teaches for the Illustration Departments at RISD and the Massachusetts College of Art and received teaching grants from Very Special Arts Rhode Island.

Michael Owen: BFA, Painting, RISD; MFA, Painting, New York Academy of Art. Owen is a painter whose focus is the figure. His work has been exhibited at the George Billis Gallery in Los Angeles and NYC, and at Gallery Agniel and Lenore Gray Gallery in Providence. He works for The RISD Museum's Exhibits Department.

Jill Palumbo: BFA, Photography and Painting, UMass/Dartmouth. Palumbo currently works as a freelance commercial photographer, educator and exhibiting artist. She has lectured and given artist demonstrations at local colleges and universities and is a guest teacher at Lincoln School for girls.

David Paolino: BSET, Wentworth Institute of Technology; BFA, Illustration, and MA, Art Education, RISD. Paolino has practiced architectural, interior, electronic and mechanical design since 1967, has taught at Wentworth Institute for 20 years, and is the Advisor for RISD|CE's Interior Design Certificate Program.

Crystal Paolucci: BS, Art Education, Rhode Island College. In addition to teaching for RISD|CE, Paolucci runs an after-school program in mural artistry at Bain Middle School in Cranston. A painter, she is a member of the Rhode Island Art Education Association and the National Art Education Association.

Matthew E. Paquin: BA, URI; Certificate, Computer Animation, RISD|CE. Paquin has worked as a glassblower, graphic designer, freelance videographer, and dock worker for the Block Island Ferry. With a background in live action filmmaking, he works in both hand-drawn 2D and computer-generated 3D animation. Currently he teaches sequential art and video at School One in Providence.

Jessica Lee Perry: BS, Art Education, SUNY/Buffalo; MA, Art Education, Lesley University. Perry has taught art in both private and public institutions, and has designed and implemented an art curriculum for a population of diverse learners at The Wolfe School in East Providence. Her work has been exhibited in Ireland, Buffalo, Cambridge and Providence.

Frank Piccirillo: BS, Art Education, and BFA, Painting, RIC. He is a certified art teacher currently working at the Paul Cuffee School West. His artwork has been exhibited in the Providence area.

Sharon Pollock: BFA, Ceramics, University of Minnesota; BS, Art Education, SUNY/Buffalo; MFA, Ceramics, Swain School of Design at Boston University. Pollock has taught at area colleges, served as Director of the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and lectured for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. She is also an exhibiting studio artist.

Melinda Rainsberger: BFA, Film/Animation/Video, RISD. A freelance designer/animator, Rainsberger's work includes all aspects of the design world: graphic design, animation, directing, special effects, music videos, websites, albums and concert posters. In her spare time, she is the motion graphics designer for (add)ventures and coordinates They're Using Tools! -- a group of artists that sometimes makes films and sometimes uses tools.

Jessie Rauch-Dickson: BA, Computer Science, Smith College; MFA, Graphic Design, RISD. Rauch-Dickson is a graphic designer experienced in the development of imaging, typographic and branding systems, and in translating visual concepts across a variety of media. Her professional history includes positions at multinational agencies and Fortune 500 clientele.

Stacy Bloom Rexrode: BFA, Art History, Dickinson College. Associates Degree, Graphic Design, Antonelli Institute of Art. Rexrode is a fine artist and licensed contractor in Massachusetts. Taking into consideration both sustainability and green design, she has been involved in all phases of various scale residential projects, her most recent being the conversion of a 1910 concrete cattle barn to a contemporary residence.

Bill Riker: BFA, Glass, Alfred University; MFA, Glass/Sculpture, RISD. Riker has operated a glass studio since 1975, and he is proprietor of Riker Art Glass, based in East Providence. His work is exhibited at craft galleries throughout the US.

Bryan Rodrigues: BA, History and Education, RIC; International Certificate Program for New Media, IMedia. Rodrigues has taught graphic design at Katherine Gibbs School, as well as computer graphics courses for IMedia and the Learning Connection. He is also the head product designer at Zultan International.

Cynthia Ross-Meeks: BFA, Fashion Design, and MAE, RISD. A freelance fashion designer, Ross-Meeks has designed bridal and sportswear collections and produced product samples for Hasbro. She currently teaches visual arts in the Providence Public School System, and she has been Resident Costume Designer for Brown University's Rites and Reasons Theatre since 1999. Her work has been exhibited at The RISD Museum and other local galleries.

Kathryn Rotondo: Fast Track Certificate in Flash, RISD|CE; Certificate in Applied Sciences, Harvard Extension School; BA, French Studies, Smith College. Rotondo is a freelance developer working in Adobe Flash, Flex and Air, as well as coauthor of Adobe AIR in Action from Manning Publications.

Julie Ruditzky: BA, Communications and Media Studies, Fordham University. A television news reporter, Ruditzky has won numerous awards, including an Associated Press "Instant Citation" for breaking news coverage. Her work has been featured on Fox News Channel and CNN. She currently works for the Rhode Island ABC affiliate as a field reporter.

Thad Russell: BA, International Relations, Stanford University; MFA, Photography, RISD; teaching certificate, Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning, Brown University. Russell is a freelance photographer whose clients have included Los Angeles Times Magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, New York Magazine and United Airlines. An adjunct faculty member for RISD's Photography Department, he has also worked as an advertising art director and graphic designer.

Paul Santos: BFA, UMass, MEd, Bridgewater State College. Santos is an interior designer and part owner of Boston Staging & Design. He began his career as a fine art and antiques dealer working with both the public and private sectors. His clients include the New Bedford Preservation Society, New Bedford's Waterfront Historic Area League, Bay Cove Boston, as well as several school districts and garden clubs throughout Massachusetts.

Alison Schroeer: BS, Plant Science, Cornell University; MS, Medical Illustration, Medical College of Georgia; MS, Plant Ecology, University of Georgia. Schroeer's illustration clients have included Novartis Animal Health US, California Academy of Sciences and Storey Publishing. Articles featuring her and her work have appeared in Reptiles and Southern Accents magazines. She has interned at numerous institutions including The Nature Conservancy and Cornell University, and was a plant taxonomy assistant at the North Carolina Botanical Garden.

Matthew Service: President of Service Internet Solutions, LLC, Service is a frequent presenter on various Internet related topics including search engine optimization. Matt presents to groups such as: Connecticut Small Business Development Center, National Association of Women Business Owners, CONNSTEP and SCORE. Professional memberships include the Association of Internet Professionals, the International Webmasters Association, CT Technology Council and National Association of Manufacturers.

Ruth Shouval: MAE, RISD; studies at Bezalel Academy of Arts and the Avni Institute of Art in Israel. Shouval is a practicing artist whose paintings and ceramics have been exhibited in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Israel. With her students, she recently created a mosaic column for the Roger Williams Park Zoo.

Fred Spencer: AA, Antelope Valley College; studies in film and 3D animation and modeling, UCLA Extension. Spencer has more than 11 years experience in content, conceptual, multimedia, graphic and print design. He is proficient in design applications and web authoring tools, and has taught web design courses at Antelope Valley College.

Jesse Thompson: MFA, Sculpture, RISD. An animator, illustrator, sculptor and painter, Thompson has worked in many facets of the art world, including work for action figure sculpture houses such as Art Asylum and Adam Beane, as well as the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute for Sculpture. His fascination with comic books, superheroes, fairy tales and movies has had a profound effect on his career as a professional, exhibiting artist.

Marc Torick: BFA, University of the Arts; MFA, New York Academy of Art. Torick has taught in RISD's Illustration Department and in the Fine Arts Department at UMass/Dartmouth. He also painted for the 1996 Olympic Games project at Malcolm Grear Designers, and for Kips Bay Designer Showhouse.

Reece Tormos: MBA, Harvard Business School; MPA, Kennedy School of Government; Certificate, Interior Design, RISD|CE. Tormos is a Designer for the Rhode Island Design Center. A former management consultant, Tormos was a Principal at Abt Associates, and President/Owner of Tormos & Associates.

Laura Travis: BS, Art Education, RIC; MFA, Sculpture, Maryland Institute College of Art. Travis also studied at the Carving Studio in Vermont and at RISD. She teaches art in the Providence Public School System and has a studio at the alternative artist-owned space AS220. She was named RI Secondary Art Educator of the Year in 2007 by the RIAEA.

John Tschirch: MA, Architectural History and Historic Preservation, University of Virginia. Tschirch is an architectural historian for the Preservation Society of Newport County, specializing in the evolution of historic houses, interiors and landscapes. He has lectured on these subjects in Europe, South America and the US. His essay "Newport Castle" was published in Encyclopedia of New England.

Kurt Van Dexter: BLA, URI; MAT, RISD. A registered landscape architect, designer and painter, as well as a certified K-12 visual arts teacher, Van Dexter has worked with many schools to develop gardens and outdoor classrooms. His paintings have won numerous awards and have been exhibited in the US and abroad. He runs a landscape architecture and design business.

Michael A. van Hamel: An international architect with more than 20 years of experience and advanced degrees in Architecture and Environmental Psychology, van Hamel has worked throughout Europe and New England and is currently working for an architectural firm in Providence, RI.

Michael Veracka: BA, English, Providence College; MLA, RISD. Veracka owns a landscape design and construction business. His work has won numerous design awards and has been featured in Garden Design Magazine and Organic Gardening Magazine. He has taught at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University.

Evan Villari: BA, Communications Studies, URI. A filmmaker, writer and musician, Villari is founder of EViL Films, an independent film and video production company. His work has appeared on the Discovery Channel and he recently shot a series of television spots for the JMW School for the Arts in Pawtucket. His film writings have been featured in Providence Monthly and in The Agenda. A multi-format project on the identity of the ever-developing city he calls home, Providence, is currently in its production phase.

Barbara Voccola: BFA, Graphic Design, and MAT, RISD. Voccola has taught secondary and elementary students and was involved in Studio in the Museum at Veazie Street Elementary School. She is a visual arts teacher in Cranston and is a RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence.

Sarah Vukovich: BA, Studio Art, Hamilton College; MS, Historic Preservation, University of Vermont; MS, Historic Preservation, University of Pennsylvania. A specialist in architectural history, baseline documentation and decorative finish analysis, Vukovich is currently a principal with New England Preservation Collaborative, a historic preservation consulting company. She was the inaugural recipient of the Charles Peterson Fellowship, which recognizes great promise in preservation technology.

Blue Wade: BA, Practice of Art and Interdisciplinary Studies, University of California/Berkeley; Studies in Maori Art and Culture, Massey University; MFA, Digital Media, RISD. Wade has taught art in primary and secondary schools and art centers for more than ten years. She has also taught rapid prototyping in the RISD degree programs. Her work has been exhibited in New York, California, Rhode Island and New Zealand.

Nicole B. Weeks: BFA, Art Education, Pratt; MS, Holistic Nutrition, Clayton College of Natural Health. Weeks is a mosaic artist and has both taught and been a production assistant for mosaic commissions at the Institute of Mosaic Art in California. She has developed and created several mosaic projects in schools.

Robin Wiseman: BFA, Architecture, and BAR, RISD; MFA, Drawing, UMass/Dartmouth. Wiseman has taught at RISD, RIC and Brandeis University. Besides RISD|CE, he currently teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art. He has received a Church Award in teaching and the RISD|CE Teacher of Excellence Award, and his work has appeared in galleries and shows throughout New England.

Amy Bartlett Wright: BA, University of Maryland; Certificate, Scientific and Technical Illustration, RISD|CE. An accomplished muralist and scientific illustrator, Wright has painted commissions for the Smithsonian Institution, Staten Island Zoo, Roger Williams Park Zoo, Buttonwood Park Zoo, New England Aquarium, Museum of Science Boston, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Save The Bay and National Geographic Society. She is a member of the Society of Animal Artists.

Walter Zesk: BA, Wesleyan University; Sheridan Teaching Certificate, Brown University. MArch candidate, RISD. Prior to beginning the MArch program at RISD, Zesk worked on Cape Cod building custom wooden sailboats. He was awarded third place in the 2008 Lyceum Competition, a national design contest, and has also been awarded a fellowship to study complex emergent systems at the Santa Fe Institute.
