FRESHMAN 19 PLUS: $4,480 per year (2008-09 rate) RISD first year students all participate in the 19 Plus meal option. Our program is designed to maximize the first-year residential experience and promote a sense of community. Nineteen meals per week are redeemed in The Met, which is centrally located to first-year housing. Two additional guest meals per semester may be used to treat parents or other guests to a meal. The 19 Plus meal option strives to ensure that each student engages in nutritious, healthy dining habits. To that end, 19 meals should be used each week. Unused meals do not carry forward to the following week.
In addition to your weekly meal allowance, the 19 Plus option includes RISD Dining Dollars, which allow you to purchase a snack at The Met or enjoy the other dining establishments on campus. $320 Dining Dollars are applied at the beginning of first semester and can be redeemed at any time during the academic year. Dining dollars remaining at the end of the academic year are forfeited.
If you run out of Dining Dollars you may add additional Dining Dollars at any time. As an added bonus all additional funds placed on your Dining Dollar account will receive a 10% enhancement above and beyond the actual cash value. Using Dining Dollars makes each transaction in our dining facilities tax exempt, which adds up to even greater savings. Funds can be placed on your card using cash, check or credit card at the customer service window of The Met.
If you are not on campus, arrangements can be made through Isabel Ferreira (iferreir@risd.edu), Dining Account Manager at 454-6642.
