A Grand Gallery: European Paintings from the Permanent Collection
ongoing
The soaring Main Gallery has been returned to its original splendor. This beautifully proportioned space reopens as a picture gallery displaying the Museums distinguished collection of European paintings in an installation that recalls the deeply stacked galleries of French and British salon exhibitions. Masterpieces from the Renaissance through the early 19th century including many that have not been on view for some time fill the walls.
This restoration was supported by the Champlin Foundation, Ida Ballou Littlefield Memorial Trust, and the Museum Associates.
