about the exhibition
Curated by René de Guzman, senior art curator at the Oakland Museum of California, the RISD Northern California Alumni Biennial 2008 celebrates work in a wide variety of media by alumni living and working in the greater Bay area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano and Sonoma counties). This second biennial follows up on the first one held in the region in 2006 by providing a prominent visual forum for selected artists that will deepen and extend public perception of the range and relevance of RISD alumni work. The exhibition of two- and three-dimensional fine art and design work promises to demonstrate the collective impact of RISD graduates on contemporary culture in northern California.
