Research is fundamental to RISD’s mission, both in terms of supporting studio and classroom learning and personal creative explorations. The Faculty Research Office in Academic Affairs assists full- and part-time curators, faculty and librarians with grant-writing and other funding advice to help facilitate research proposals. The Professional Development Fund offers full or partial funding for faculty projects, based on a six-month cycle for considering grant proposals and the RISD Research Foundation offers funds for research support. Priority is given to projects that make a positive impact on the fields of art and design, on people’s lives, the environment and RISD’s mission.
