Among the hallmarks of a RISD education is the Foundation Studies program. Each undergraduate’s introduction to the college is through a year-long immersion in Foundation Studies, which is designed to encourage experimentation, research and the challenging of unexamined assumptions. Rigorous visual and critical inquiry are taught through Drawing, Two-Dimensional Design and Three-Dimensional Design courses.
