HOW DOES THE POST-BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM WORK?
This question is best answered by contacting the Graduate Program Coordinator and/or the Department Head. This program is highly individualized and a direct correspondence can address the many specifics that will vary from individual to individual.
WHAT TYPE OF ACCESS DO GRADUATE STUDENTS HAVE TO THE GLASS FACILITIES? Graduate students have full access to the glass facilities, including the hot shop, cold shop, kiln room and plaster room. Some shops, like the hot shop, have scheduled times; generally, graduate students are given two or three 3-hour slots a week.
WHAT TYPES OF OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS? Several positions are available in the Glass Department, including teaching assistant, technical assistant, office assistant and visiting artist coordinator, among others. In awarding these positions, the department considers each student’s skills, experience and level of interest.
HOW MUCH INTERACTION DO GRADUATE STUDENTS HAVE WITH VISITING ARTISTS? The Glass Department hosts approximately 10–15 visiting artists per year and all graduate students are entitled to individual studio meetings with each visiting artist. Visiting artist lectures and discussion groups are equally integral to the graduate curriculum. |
