Wedgwood from the collection of Rose and Seymour Cohen
A gift of fourteen ceramic pieces from Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Cohen is an important addition to the Museums collection. It allows the presentation of a much wider range of wares produced by the ever-innovative English company Josiah Wedgwood & Sons. This highly productive manufacturer was established in 1759 in Staffordshire and is still known the world over for the quality of its wares. The gift represents the diversity of Wedgwoods work, from a tri-color jasperware cassolette (ca. 1785} to a fantastical Fairy Lustre piece (1920s) and makes evident the firms significance in ceramic history.
