Van Amringe’s Nest II was built up with numerous strips of clay. Its yellow/green glazed surface is remarkably encrusted and craggy, recalling the underwater world of coral and rock as well as the excessive accumulation of some large creature’s nest. Van Amringe has worked with many types of materials and techniques, but took up ceramics as her primary art-making activity about six years ago.
