RISD offers a number of resources for students with special academic, physical, emotional and cultural concerns.
STUDENT AFFAIRS
The Office of Student Affairs serves as student advocate and assists students with issues such as academic advising and planning, financial aid, and other student support services. The office also oversees student withdrawals, academic standing and disciplinary issues and coordinates the student orientation program each fall and Commencement events in June.

REGISTRARS OFFICE
The Registrars Office oversees college policies and practices. Other responsibilities include publishing the course announcement catalog, and overseeing registration, class schedules, course offerings, data reports, building hours, grade rosters, grading, degree information, transfer credits, graduation requirements, certification of enrollment, readmission and transcripts.

MEDIA RESOURCES
Media Resources provides students and departments with audio and visual assistance for projects, installations and meetings.

ACADEMIC ADVISOR
This new position was set up to work with departments and students to improve academic advising.

STUDENT LIFE + ACTIVITIES
Student Life builds upon students educational experience by developing and promoting an environment that supports and enhances cultural, social and intellectual development. The office is a liaison between the college administration and the student government and oversees the Carr Haus coffee shop, Tap Room, activites at Frazier Terrace and in the Catanzaro Student Center, and all student organizations and athletics.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT + COUNSELING SERVICES
Student Development offers individual personal psychological counseling, groups and workshops related to personal development, consultation with faculty and administrators, services to special needs students and coordinates the Freshman Department Selection Program.

RESIDENCE LIFE
Residence Life oversees the nearly 1200 students who live on campus. In addition to answering questions regarding housing concerns and roommate issues, the office offers assistance to students in social and community development, policy enforcement, housing and apartment contracts and supervises the Community Advisor Program.

HEALTH SERVICES
Health Services provides students primary and clinical care and has information available on health promotion, protection, education and disease prevention. The Health Educator is available for counseling and education regarding substance use and abuse issues. The office also offers referral to area medical facilities.

MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) assists the community in shaping a culturally inclusive and supportive environment in which all members contribute to and benefit from their time at RISD. Socially and academically, OMA coordinates enriching opportunities for cultural awareness, dialogue and understanding. The office provides specific support for RISDs artists of color, marginalized populations and those interested in pursuing multicultural work.

CATALYST ARTS Supervised through the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Catalyst Arts is a service-learning program dedicated to experimenting in design and fine arts collaboration. The program creates community-based partnerships for RISD students to collaborate with and work within the greater Rhode Island community. Founded in 2002, Catalyst Arts is centered on the importance of dialogue and believes that collaborative practices can foster new approaches for the arts to intersect with citizenship, entrepreneurship and public engagement.
