Elettra Bordonaro

Elettra Bordonaro is founder and creative director at Light Follows Behaviour, a lighting design studio that aims to design with people and for people. She was awarded a PhD in 2006 from the University of Architecture in Turin with the thesis Technology and Innovation for Architecture and Industrial Design, which concentrated on urban lighting. She is also co-founder together with Olsson, Linder, Stammers, Lupton and Corten of the Social Light Movement (SLM), whose aim is bringing lighting to less affluent communities.

Bordonaro has focused her attention on light and worked as a lighting designer consultant on masterplan, exterior and public realm lighting for major lighting design studios such as Light Cibles, Paris; Speirs and Major, Edinburgh and London; Metis Lighting, Milan; and Light Bureau, London. She has taught at the University of Rome, Milan and Turin and was in charge of the cultural and educational programs of Lighting Academy, Fondazione Targetti until 2010. She was a visiting professor at RISD in 2014 and taught a class called Light, City and Community that helped to build community around light.
