Jane Szurek

Jane Szurek’s research focuses on the changing roles of women in society, from the coal-mining towns of northern England to the cities of China. She has studied childbirth rituals in Latin America and the impact of social and economic factors on new birth technologies in Italy, England and the US. Szurek earned her PhD in anthropology from Brown University.
