ELLE forms partnership with Rhode Island School of Design to produce Fashion Next, a special showcase of the future of fashion.
This fall marks ELLE’s 25th Anniversary of
US publication, and we’re celebrating at Fashion Week’s new home – Lincoln
Center – by fostering the creative vision of fashion’s next generation. ELLE, the No. 1 fashion magazine in the
world, announces its first-ever partnership with the Rhode Island School of
Design (RISD), America’s preeminent art and design college. With exclusive

designers’ work editorially in ELLE’s highly anticipated October 25th

during New York Fashion Week on September 9, 2010.

Of the countless talented
RISD designers, ELLE editors have selected twenty-two who best embody the
spirit of “FASHION NEXT”. These semi-finalists will be given the
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show their designs at Lincoln Center’s Koch
Theater during New York Fashion Week. Prestigious awards will be given to the
top designers, including the ELLE &
RISD Design Award – the winner will be announced at the September 9 show
and be awarded a grant of $25,000. The semi-finalists will also have the chance
to win the ELLE People’s Choice Award,
a $10,000 grant selected by ELLE.com users (voting goes live on September 9).
In addition, Maybelline New York
will present a semi-finalist with a design achievement grant and kate spade new york will provide a
coveted mentorship and a $10,000 award. “ELLE has always supported and encouraged young,
emerging designers so we’re very excited to partner with RISD and together
discover the next faces in fashion,” says ELLE Editor-In-Chief, Robbie Myers.
