The Printmaking Department supports the creative
development of artists dedicated to visual exploration and
expression using intaglio, lithography, screenprint, relief
and related photo-processes. As a Printmaking major, you
will be encouraged to explore a focused personal direction
as you learn to master both traditional and contemporary
techniques, including digital and alternative print methods.
Intensive study of conceptual, formal and practical issues
related to historical and contemporary prints in the RISD
Museum of Art and other collections in the region provides
inspiration through direct contact with original works of
art. Critical insights from faculty, visiting artists and
other print-world professionals help you to develop mature
personal work responsive to the issues defining the field
today.
