In today's world, promoting yourself or your business online is essential for those who want to be competitive in the marketplace. Whether you have a portfolio to display, information to impart, or goods and services to sell, your online presence must be customer-centric from the day it goes public. This program provides an overview of what it takes to successfully launch your e-commerce website, and how to ensure that viewers/buyers have a positive experience when they visit your page. We discuss the pros and cons of do-it-yourself site construction versus hiring a professional designer, review key legal and ethical considerations, and survey the fundamentals of how search engines work. Ultimately, students come to understand how doing business online presents a set of circumstances that requires a focused and unique approach.
