Your RISD ID Card
The RISD ID card is much more than a simple ID. In identifying you as a member of the RISD community, it is an invaluable key to life on campus. Given this, students are encouraged to carry their RISD ID card at all times and be able to show it upon request.
risdbucks is a prepaid debit account that can be used for purchases of products and services on and off campus (wherever the card is accepted).

Access to campus buildings and facilities
RISD maintains an access control system for all buildings on campus, meaning students, faculty and staff need to wave a valid RISD ID card in close proximity to card readers in order to open locked doors. Access is based on several factors, including authorization, area, time of day and day of week. Building access follows posted building hours set forth by the Registrar’s Office. Access to specific spaces, rooms and labs is based on pre-approved authorization.
On-campus meal plans are linked to your RISD ID card. Simply visit any of RISD Dining’s facilities, choose your meal and present your RISD ID card to a cashier.
Borrowing from the Fleet Library at RISD is easy. Simply bring your books to the circulation desk and present your RISD ID card.
Riding the RIPTA bus
Your RISD ID card also functions as a RIPTA bus pass, allowing you to ride free of charge if you’re a matriculated student or current faculty or staff member. Visit RIPTA for routes and schedule information.
Pay for prints and laundry
Funds to pay for printing and laundry may be added to your RISD ID card at five cash-to-card kiosks on campus located at 15 West (near the Public Safety office), the BEB (outside the computer lab in the basement), Homer Hall (outside of the Writing Center), the CIT (first-floor hallway) and the Design Center (first-floor hallway near elevators).
