PARACRAFT Reveals Surprising Connections
Each spring the English Department organizes a show featuring outstanding student work completed in and/or inspired by classes taught in the department. The annual exhibition offers a wonderful opportunity to view the range and diversity of ways in which literary study and studio work come together at RISD.
Students Celeste Wilson 10 GL and Greg Kozatek 10 IL worked with Department HeadPatricia Barbeitoto organize and curate Paracraft, the department’s 2010 exhibition. Sponsored by the Student Gallery Board, it ran from March 18–27, 2010 at Carr Haus Café and featured a wide range of work, from performance and spoken word pieces, to sculpture, illustration and a
publication of essays and stories.
Paracraft provided a compelling visual narrative of “how literature and literary
practices intersect and enter into dialogue with studio practice in
often surprising and mutually beneficial ways,” Barbeito explains.
