Graduate Thesis Exhibition

From mid-May to early June, students who are about to earn their master’s degrees take part in the popular Graduate Thesis Exhibition, a huge show open to the public and presented in an exhibition hall at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The 28,000-sf space is custom-constructed, with more than 1,500 linear feet of walls forming a network of smaller galleries. This arrangement provides each student with ample space, affording the opportunity to showcase multiple pieces from their final body of thesis work.

The work selected for the show represents the culmination of each student’s unique experience at RISD and is complemented by a web-based gallery of audio, moving and still imagery, along with artists’ statements providing insight into the thought process behind your thesis work.

In addition, a selection of work by second-year graduate students is often shown simultaneously at Sol Koffler Graduate Student Gallery and certain departments also sponsor smaller thesis exhibitions in New York.
