In 2001, the Museum mounted From Paris to Providence:Fashion, Art and the Tirocchi Dressmakers Shop, 1915-1947 and launched a related Web site. The exhibition presented a unique collection of more than three hundred early twentieth-century textiles and garments made by Italian émigré sisters Anna and Laura Tirocchi in their shop at 514 Broadway, Providence. The Tirocchi collection and website are unparalleled resources for understanding many wide-ranging historical issues, including Italian immigration, women as workers and consumers, and the transition from hand production of garments to ready-to-wear clothing.
