John Berry

John Berry is a painter whose work draws inspiration from the history, structures and resilience of the German Schrebergarten, or allotment garden, exploring its implications for how we organize our images, our identity and our communities. Berry received his BFA at RISD in 2004 and his MFA from Indiana University in 2009. He has participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, Si Shang Museum in Beijing and Pilotenkueche in Leipzig, Germany. A finalist for the Abbey Scholarship in Painting, Berry has been awarded an Efroymson Family Fund Grant, the Louise McNutt Fellowship Grant and a Della Fricke Teaching Award. He is represented by Josef Filipp Galerie in Leipzig.
