Hildegard Hansen

Lecturer

Hildegard Hansen is a prose writer whose work draws on familial archives, translation and mistranslation, film, medieval scientific and religious thought, devotional architecture and geology. Her artistic practice has taken the form of text, sound experimentation and video work. She was the recipient of the John Hawkes Prize for Fiction, the Keith and Rosmarie Waldrop Prize for Innovative Writing and the Mark Baumer Prize for Language Art. She holds a BA in English Literature from King’s College London and an MFA in Literary Arts from Brown University. In addition to teaching at RISD, she teaches fiction writing at Brown University and literature and philosophy at Roger Williams University.
