Tom Doran teaches courses on comics art, natural history, poetics, the history of science and ecology, and various forms of writing. His courses often incorporate hands-on projects that encourage students to expand the conceptual, material and methodological scope of literary inquiry. He also has a background in inclusive and student-centered writing pedagogies, writing across the curriculum, mindfulness and writing, environmental rhetoric and the history of composition curricula in American colleges and universities. Over the past 12 years, he has taught academic, professional and creative writing at six different postsecondary institutions, developing a pedagogy that emphasizes informal writing, multimodal composition, collaborative writing and studio-based pedagogy. His creative and critical writing has appeared in VOLT, Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and the Environment, Journal of Ecocriticism, Humanimalia, Journal of Florida Studies and Fence Magazine.
