Erica Kinias

In addition to teaching at RISD, Erica Kinias is a visiting assistant professor at Brown University. She earned her PhD in the History of Art and Architecture from Brown and her MA in Museum Studies from the University College London’s Institute of Archaeology. She specializes in the art and architecture of the Middle Ages, with a focus on monastic architecture, gender studies and spatial analysis. She is particularly interested in the ways that gender is reflected in the design of architectural spaces and ritual performance. Before coming to Providence, Kinias worked as a curator at Chiddingstone Castle, UK, a grants manager at the NEH’s Arizona Humanities and as executive director of the Telluride Historical Museum in Colorado.
