Alan French received his BFA (Industrial Design) in 1956 from RISD and began his professional life at Westinghouse Electric Corp. as a designer in the major appliance division. Over the next 20 years he worked in firms designing silverware, optical products and packaging until he started his own firm, Alan French Design, specializing in product and package design. He has taught classes for the Industrial Design department since 2001.
