Jonah Sacks is a consultant in acoustics at Acentech in Cambridge, MA. He provides acoustical consulting services to a wide variety of architectural project types, including performance spaces, teaching spaces, commercial offices and residential buildings. His consulting focuses on three major areas: room acoustics (how a space sounds), sound isolation (preventing intrusive sounds from outside the space) and noise control (low-noise design of HVAC and other building systems). Sacks is also a lifelong musician who has performed in many contexts as a cellist, guitarist and bassist. He counts his cello as an essential acoustical test instrument when visiting rooms for music. His recent performing arts projects include Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe, VT; the new Asian Cultural Center in Gwangju, South Korea and renovations at Boston Symphony Hall.
