Lydia Moog received her BS in mechanical engineering from Brown University. Her first professional experience studying structures came during her time as an archaeological researcher in northern France, where she had the chance to study the foundations of the medieval monastery of Bourgfontaine in Villers-Cotterêts. After completing her undergraduate degree, Moog went on to work as a structural engineer at Odeh Engineers, Inc. in Providence, and she is currently working on the Brown University Performing Arts Center, designed by New York-based architecture firm REX. Her varied experience in engineering includes excavating, surveying foundations, analyzing, designing and drafting structures that exist partially, if not fully, underground. In tandem with her training in engineering at Brown, Moog studied in various departments at RISD and continues to work with glass.
