Matthew Clowney’s photographs are in numerous collections both private and public, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia.
He received his MFA from RISD and his BFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. In the years between undergrad and grad school, Clowney worked commercially in New York and was first assistant to Tina Barney. He has worked with a wide array of advertising, editorial and corporate clients, including Coke, Hewlett-Packard, Fuji Film, W Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Nasdaq, and many more.

Clowney is particularly interested in the contemporary American family experience and in the politics that surround it.
